Paul Ryan's position will always be whatever keeps him in power in the moment.

Does it hurt to be such a striking example of the delusion we're talking about?

Crazy how different Rachel Notley looks now. I wouldn't have recognized her holding that sign.

As are you Flash. As are you. I fully realize she doesn't want to kill the oil patch but I also know fully well where she comes from.

Hey Paul Ryan is reading this thread and said something about where he stands! Says the Obama actions were overdue. I don't know if Trump will be able to undo the sanctions so easily.

His actual statement from that article is just more fence sitting though,
"While today’s action by the administration is overdue, it is an appropriate way to end eight years of failed policy with Russia," Ryan said in a statement. "And it serves as a prime example of this administration's ineffective foreign policy that has left America weaker in the eyes of the world."

As Photon said Obama just kicked out 35 Russian diplomats and imposed sanctions on Russia.

He's legally required to include anti Obama sentiment anytime he makes a public comment. It's almost impressive in its childishness.

Now Trump says he'll meet with intelligence community to get the facts. EDIT: Next week.
“It's time for our country to move on to bigger and better things,” he said in a statement. “Nevertheless, in the interest of our country and its great people, I will meet with leaders of the intelligence community next week in order to be updated on the facts of this situation.”

Russia closed a school in retaliation so far:
Russian authorities have ordered the Anglo-American School of Moscow to close, as part of retaliation for US sanctions imposed Thursday, a US official briefed on the matter said.
The order from the Russian government closes the school, which serves children of US, British and Canadian embassy personnel, to US and foreign nationals.

Trump maybe tired from the holidays making him sound even less coherent than usual.
Computers are complicated.
I think that computers have complicated lives very greatly. The whole age of computer has made it where nobody knows exactly what is going on. We have speed, we have a lot of other things, but I’m not sure we have the kind the security we need. But I have not spoken with the senators and I will certainly will be over a period of time.
Getting along with Obama
"Our staffs have been getting along very well and I'm getting along very well with him other than a couple of statements that I responded to and we talked about it and smiled about it and nobody is ever going to know because we are never going to be going against each other.
I don't think he knows what a settlement is.
Asked if he thinks there should be any limit on Israeli settlement building, he responded by saying: "I'm very very strong on Israel. I think that Israel has been treated very very unfairly by a lot of different people. If you look at resolutions in the United Nation... they are up for 20 reprimands and other nations that are horrible places, horrible places that treat people horribly haven't even been reprimanded. So there is something going on and I think it is very unfair to Israel. Thank you very much. Thank you.
He then turned and went back inside and the [press] pool left Mar-a-Lago.

What does your quote have anything to do with him not understanding settlements? I'm fine with legit Trump criticisims, but at least try and have some basis to your arguments.
Sure he gives a typical Trump "Im going to be so hard on X you won't believe it" statement, but lets not characterize that as a lack of understanding of Israeli settlements. He was basically saying the UN is shatting on Israel while other countries do so much worse get by scot free.

He didn't answer the question at all, he said Israel has been treated unfairly and then ended things.
Normally I'd agree with you and I wouldn't say dodging the question is an indication of lack of knowledge, but Trump hardly ever backs down from saying outright what he thinks about something no matter how touchy it is. Or lying and changing later. So on the rare occasions when he does avoid a question, I think it's because he doesn't have an answer to the question.
You could be right and he's just dodging the question because he doesn't want to commit to a path or policy, but that would be pretty out of character. And why would he suddenly be coy after what he's already said and who he's appointed as an ambassador? Plus he's never shown a patience for nuance or shades of grey.
You may be right, but that was the basis of why I thought he might not understand the question.

I agree he dodged the question, as usual, but my point was he said nothing to question his understanding of settlements.

His answer reads like he's answering a question about a settlement with Israel and how they've been mistreated, instead of "Israeli settlements".
Sure it could have been his usual jabbering non-response and he knows full well the situation with settlements, but it doesn't come across that way. Of course nothing he ever says comes across in any definitive way so yeah, it's impossible to say.

I think Trump is a dumb person, but I'm fascinated that many people don't understand he won't have cart blanche to do whatever he likes, due to congress, senate and the judiciary. Many elected republicans disagree with him on many subjects. Can he do damage to the country? Absolutely. But I think there's also a chance he's just a bafoon for 4 years and the country isn't fundamentally altered....
