After watching them, how did Vancouver, Arizona or Colorado even win 3? Did they play each other?

Looking at the Flames schedule, tonight's game was the last time they will have to travel to the US in over a month.
They don't play in the states until Feb 3 against New Jersey.

It's the NHL. Even bad teams aren't absolutely horrible every single game. The Coilers finished last, last, second last in 3 season yet still somehow won games.

Just got home and settled after attending the game tonight in the Can. A few quick thoughts and then some sleep:
Great second period from the team. Lots of drive, some lucky bounces, but they also dominated the period.
Moose seemed to persevere despite fighting the puck a bit.
Johnny was Johnny Hockey, what else can you say. Dangerous every time he had the puck in the offensive zone.
The team defense was good enough, but the actual D men were not overly physical to say the least. Dougie played the best of the 6 tonight. Watched Spoon take the pregame warm-up and was hoping he would see the ice, because JJ looked physically over matched the entire game.
Really liked the move Sam made behind the net. He needs to get going and he showed excellent signs in that direction. His deflection was a beauty, but that move behind the net was sick.
Backs was awesome and very calm out there. Plays a full 200 foot game and is really composed. Shot block looked very painful, but he is also a warrior.
Don't understand why GG plays Chiasson especially on the PP... don't get that at all. He should be eating popcorn most nights.
Lots of Flames fans in a 3/4 full building tonight. Didn't know if it was so obvious on the broadcast, but the boos after the 5 on 3 were the biggest reaction from the Avs fans tonight, with a lot of them heading home after they didn't score.

Wowza. With all the talk about the Blue Jackets, I completely missed this. They've now won 11 straight with tonight's OT win against Nashville.
Of course, the last team to beat them was... the Calgary Flames on Dec 2. We're also 2-0-0 against them this year

Kind of funny that the flames were that last team to beat both the Blue Jackets and Wild.

Ergo, the Flames are currently the best team in the league. Power rankings, make it so!

I will actually feel like this team has a chance at the playoffs once they pass the oilers in the standings with even games.
As long as the Flames are behind the Oilers I feel like they are no good.

Matty Tkachuk the rookie with 20 points in 33 GP now.
Then again he's probably just a beneficiary of Backlund's offensive prowess, grossly inflating his stats.
..Just kidding.

The Oilers are mostly ahead at this point because of their La-z-boy-easy schedule in the first 3 weeks and the two freebies from the terribad Flames of game 1-16, amounting in a 7-1 cushion. But since then they've been mediocre. Not as terribad as before, but not a playoff pace either. The cushion has given them the chance to stay afloat in the playoff picture while playing so-so hockey. So in a way their start goes to show you just how important getting off to a good start is. Flames have played from behind the eight ball for as long as I can remember... or at least ever since 05-06 when they took the division.
Overall the two teams are trending to where the Flames eventually overtake the Oil in the standings (for good). They'll probably leapfrog the other a few more times first though. Just give 'er time. I feel like this Flames team has another gear in terms of consistency yet as well. We still have one elite blue liner that has yet to come out of a slump that could do wonders.. (Also it looks as if Brian Elliott might be - albeit slowly - rounding a corner).

Worst coached? Maybe, but definitely the worst GMed team in the league. That roster is awful.

The Bennett and Versteeg goals probably don't go in without Chiasson on the doorstep screening Pickard.
The hate for Chiasson is getting irrational. The guy is doing exactly what he was brought in to do.

There is no need nor reason to hope. 10 years of abject futility is never washed away by less than half of a season.
We are on the 4th iteration of e=ng which didn't happen overnight.
Besides that, this is the pgt where we get dancing gifs and discussions about symbols.
I do wonder how many avalanche players are already playing out the string though.

It's not hate, just watching him play closely he really doesn't add a lot. He is doing his job in parking himself in front of the net, but there are a lot of players that could be inserted in the lineup that can perform this function and add a lot more 5 on 5.
So if it came across as hate it is not at all. Even the dressed players from last night, I would opt to give for Ferly or Hathaway some PP time in lieu of Chiasson.
I get to enjoy a live game from really good seats in the lower bowl {section 128) and watch players up close with and without the puck and that observation is my opinion after watching the team play. If there is perceived hate on the board for Chiasson it's not from me.
