I agree, but the key is that he made the saves. Earlier in the year he wouldn't have. Hopefully he gets some confidence here.

No doubt Elliott has earned starters role for now, even though he hasn't been tested much lately at all. The wins and numbers speak for themselves.
I really think Johnson is the better goalie and had established himself as starter but looks like 1a and 1b situation. Or maybe 2a and 2b.
I still wouldn't mind Johnson being re-signed but not at starters money. Interesting situation.

Johnsons numbers speak for themselves, we might get a deal for taking a chance on him this year. But he is definitely getting signed to average keeper money by someone with 2-3 year term I'm guessing.

^ are you thinking of average starters money? Say $5 million? That would be a little rich for the Flames IMO unless he shows he can be a starter over full season.
Flames do need a starter next year.

Flames are in an interesting situation as while it's only been 10 games Rittich has been lights out in the AHL. If he continues this pace one would think the Flames may like to keep him in the fold possibly as the backup next season and I don't think you can go with a Johnson/Rittich duo because of the unknowns. If you sign Johnson (I don't believe the team sees him as a starting goaltender) Rittich will see that there's no opportunity with the Flames for a backup role and he probably bolts.

Those ain't no 2a or 2b numbers. Guy has played like a #1 this year, no doubt about it.

Good god the Canucks are awful, pretty much what I expected out of them this year. Did Eriksson even play? I don't recall seeing or hearing about it there. What a terrible signing. 5 more years...
My god my old man crush on Tkachuk continues to grow. Cannot believe how smart he plays out there, positioning, passing, timing on plays is phenomenal. Add his #### eating play and that fact that he will back it up when called upon is awesome. Absolutely love him on this team.
Might have to see if I can catch a game while I'm in town.

Tkachuk's fake clumsy-ness is hilarious.
"Oh I'm falling on you Bigras, I can't get up!"
"Oh I'm falling better jab the goalie in the face"

Fleury was no prince and Nieminen was agitating, but can you imagine if Benning picked Tkachuk six months ago?
Adding Tkachuk to a roster that has had Cooke, Ruutu, Jovanovski, Kesler, Burrows and Bertuzzi would be a little much

It would be weird if Jim picked Matthew 6 months ago and he played with the 04/05 Canucks

Elliott was responsible for both goals against Arizona, I would argue those are worse goals than any let in by Johnson all season. He had a decent game aside from those goals, but those goals were awful. Against the Canucks Elliott wasn't even really tested, I think it's safe to say we could have played any NHL caliber goalie last night and likely would have come away with a win.
I'm not trying to harp on Elliott but I don't think he's earned the starter role over CJ. I think Elliott would have lost to CBJ, Sharks and Tampa, flames were pretty badly outplayed in all those games.
IMO Chad J has been our MVP this season, most responsible for turning our season around. I don't mind Elliott getting the start against the avs because he's won two in a row (still prefer CJ), but I don't think there has been a single game this season where I thought to myself wow Elliott won us that game. There have been plenty of games where I felt that way with CJ.

There's a string of games vs non-playoff teams that Moose can start in, that could very well get him into a bit of a roll and find his previous playoff form.

Roster has had, not has.
Nieminen isn't on the 16-17 Flames, nor is Fleury

Bieksa, Lapierre, Torres, the list goes on. I'm probably even forgetting a few myself, there are simply too many d-bags to count.

Chicago game where he was pretty sharp and made that last second save to get the game into OT and eventually get the win is one for sure.
Let the guy play until he loses. Yeah, he's let in some bad goals but the team has played horrible in front of him for most of the year which affects confidence. They need both guys playing well the way Hiller and Ramo were a couple of years ago.

How come Korean models always look like they are having so much fun?
For science, here is Victoria's Secret model Adriana Lima look as deeply depressed as a Canucks fan:

I think Flames need to do that and see if Elliott can find his form. Maybe Johnson is still the starter but he has looked fallible lately.

Woah, what did I wake up to? People are anointing Elliott the starter over Johnson now? Why?
