Jerk or not, I tend to agree with almost everything he says haha. I'm sure behind the scenes, it's an ugly place to be, especially with how they treated John Scott.

You'd think these guys would have learned by now that Twitter and drugs aren't the greatest combo.

Well that's quite the intuitive leap.

It's as if Steve Downie was visited overnight by the Ghosts of Hockey Past, Hockey Present and Hockey Yet-to-Come.

I think that's pretty childish but I also don't think he's wrong. The Coyotes are a disaster and not just because they can't fill a rink.

Doesn't this guy have better things to do? Like ruining a promising career, flushing his immense talent down the drain, fighting his own teammates in practice, and being a giant turd in general?

I mean, that sound like a full-time job.

I'm surprised he still has time burn bridges by acting like a big knob on social media.

He loses all credibility when he uses "there" instead of "they're".

He's just like half the people on this site, or any other site. Difference is they don't have followers. Or maybe they can't be leaders.

The rapidity of how these guys go from NHL player to tossed on their butts is quite a wake-up call on how disposable they are. Warrener has talked about it a little on the morning show, for most players there is no swan song, direct to the glue factory they go. I've met a few former players recently and despite sitting on double digit millions they are disenfranchised, bitter and a little lost. To put your whole life into hockey and buy in and then wake up one day and you're done is a tough pill to swallow.

Consequence of the salary cap era.

In the old days a player like Mike Keane could get a 1.5-2m contract just for his playoff experience, and be a part time player in the regular season.

Now there is a big upper class, a big lower class and no middle class.

In this case, players with perceived attitude problems tend to have a short shelf life.

I personally care not to judge Downie and make that the topic, rather than to appreciate the exposure we get in to things that happen and how people think about it.

I have no trouble placing this kind of information where it belongs, and look forward in general to more info that is not typically disclosed in interviews by guys like Boring Sean Monahan.

I like it. The truth hurts. I hate it when people always take the GMs position or the President of Hockey operations positions. He's obviously got some open wounds from playing there and wants to vent. Venting can prematurely end player's careers though.

Was anyone else not even remotely surprised for him to name Colin Campbell as the guy who treated John Scott classlessly? Campbell has always seemed like a giant scumbag.
