Do have to be careful with that, though. The new law will prohibit the door to door sales...but an "Inspection Request" is not a sale. I'm not sure we'll see much slowdown in that. I'm hoping that we do, though.

I had this scam come to my door too and tried to tell me he needed to inspect my furnace. I told him no chance he was coming in my house and he said ok and left.

I also had some kid come to my door but my wife answered. I have no idea what he wanted because I walked up to the open door and said "we aren't interested" and told him to leave.

She was so mad at me, what if he could save us "$500.00, you didn't even hear what they had to offer.".

So ya, people are gullible. I don't care if its Ed McMahon and a marching band, I am not buying anything at my door or on my phone.

My reasoning to them is that if your product or service is so amazing or whatnot then I would have sought them out in the marketplace as opposed to only learning of its greatness when they had to physically come to my front door and inform me. If that doesn't work then I flash them the name of their scam in Google results and close the door while maintaining eye contact until its closed.

I know a few people who were doing this (again, when they were young). Anyone I know who has thought it was legit at the time. Some of them still do. There's a reason that these types of things (along with religion/cults, and MLM) target people in the college-age crowd.
