Trump's cabinet has more wealth than more than 100 million of US households.

Draining the swamp indeed. How can this administration not set a new high water mark for being greasy & corrupt? Personal financial gain will 'trump' everything.

The picks would be bad enough, it's the cultists defending the picks that is so sad to watch. "Who cares if they're billionaires, that just shows they're successful!". Right, they got to be billionaires by playing by the rules, fighting for the lit.....hahahaha sorry I couldn't even get to two points without laughing hard. But as I've said already, the absolute worst part of this, easily, will be when these people are worse off in a few years, they'll almost certainly blame it all on Obama and Hillary.

I'm so sick of hearing how these guys embody the "American Dream".

If anyone does it's Obama

You have to acknowledge the "American Dream" is something different than what you think it is. The dream used to be having opportunity to work hard, earn your way through a meritocracy, and achieve success because of what you did. The dream has changed to one of winning the lottery or becoming a reality TV star, where fame and fortune fall in your lap. Fame is the new dream, because fame is the fast track to money and power.

Also West Point grad, former paratrooper and reached a rank of Major in the reserves. He's rich but has a long affinity with the US Army.

Also has a powerful Democratic supporter in Schumer:

I hate that we're going to have to play this game for the next however many years the goblin stays in control, but we will so I guess get used to it. But just imagine the apocalyptic uproar the Repubs would have if someone suggested this for Hillary. These people love power so much, they're willing to hate their country even more to make it happen.

Quote:
Referring to a law that could prevent Trump from hiring his daughter and son-in-law to serve in his administration, Gingrich said on "The Diane Rehm Show" Monday morning: “In the case of the president, he has a broad ability to organize the White House the way he wants to. He also has, frankly, the power of the pardon."

"It is a totally open power, and he could simply say, 'Look, I want them to be my advisers. I pardon them if anyone finds them to have behaved against the rules. Period.' Technically, under the Constitution, he has that level of authority," he said, according to Politico.

Gingrich also suggested that Congress change ethics laws so Trump can avoid any conflicts of interest that his global business empire may pose.

“We’ve never seen this kind of wealth in the White House, and so traditional rules don’t work,” he said.

“We’re going to have to think up a whole new approach.”

Gingrich didn't provide any details for what a new approach would entail.

Is this guy the stupidest person to ever use twitter?
His feelings are about 100X more important to him than security briefings.
What a moran.
Hard to believe people read his tweets and think he is stable or smart enough to be POTUS.

Ideally this becomes the new normal:

Trump tweets out mundane, pointless crap
Media realizes he's trying to distract them from something else
Media spends all the time talking about what Trump doesn't want to talk about

But that supposes the media has a spine, which I suspect is not true. But we'll see.

The kleptocracy of the Trump presidency is disgusting. It just makes me so angry on behalf of good natured Americans who are going to pay for his rule.

I guess kicking out protesters has been ongoing even in the thank you rallies.

https://twitter.com/kenvogel/status/807392640010485760

Article that talks about Trump's private security and how he's still using it even though Secret Service coverage increases after the election. Secret Service won't eject protesters where his private security does.

Entire List

So as it turns out, this very stupid list wasn't even done by the Freedom Caucus. Should have added a line item for "Make Plagiarism Great Again"

Quote:
To great fanfare, Rep. Mark Meadows, chairman of the conservative House Freedom Caucus, last week released a list of more than 200 rules the incoming Donald Trump White House should immediately repeal or revise.

Most of the list, however, was not written by Meadows' staff or the Freedom Caucus. Large chunks of the "special report" were lifted from other places without attribution: websites of the Heritage Foundation and other free-market groups; policy papers and letters from industry lobbying groups; even in one case an entire paragraph of a Politico news article.

It is not all that surprising that the Heritage Foundation would be the source of a lot of the ideas on the deregulation target list, given that members of the Freedom Caucus have participated in monthly lunches with reporters hosted and moderated by the Heritage Foundation. But the report took many of its explanations about the impacts of targeted rules word-for-word from Heritage Foundation publications.

Meadows' office told USA TODAY they had intended to post a link to sources.

"The report is merely a compilation of rules and regulations that should be rolled back to be used as a quick reference point — not an academic document," said Meadows spokesman Ben Williamson. "We’ve worked with numerous outside policy groups and think tanks to comprise this list. This is an ongoing project and we are continually editing, updating, and soliciting feedback for it. A hyperlinked source PDF has been in the works since last week but has taken longer than we anticipated — the fact that the PDF was up for a few days without the hyperlinked PDF being ready was a good faith timing error on our part. You can find the sourced document on our website.”

The website link is a spreadsheet containing links to some documents and websites, but not all of the source language appears there.

I just read the most recent page of this thread.

Are we in the end of days now? This has to be. That or the twilight zone. He's not even president yet and already it seems like Armageddon.

Kuwaiti Ambassador Salem al-Sabah said he felt no pressure to hold his event at the hotel and had not been contacted by the Trump Organization, contradicting aspects of a report Monday from the liberal website ThinkProgress. In previous years, Sabah and his wife, Rima, a power couple on the Washington dinner-party circuit, have held the embassy’s National Day celebration at the Four Seasons Hotel in Georgetown.

“I do not know President-elect Trump. Or his people. No one has contacted me about moving the event,” Sabah said. “It was solely done with the intention of providing our guests with a new venue. We have been holding the event at the Four Seasons for years. There is a new hotel in town, and we thought we would give it a try.”
