You have to acknowledge the "American Dream" is something different than what you think it is. The dream used to be having opportunity to work hard, earn your way through a meritocracy, and achieve success because of what you did. The dream has changed to one of winning the lottery or becoming a reality TV star, where fame and fortune fall in your lap. Fame is the new dream, because fame is the fast track to money and power.

I hate that we're going to have to play this game for the next however many years the goblin stays in control, but we will so I guess get used to it. But just imagine the apocalyptic uproar the Repubs would have if someone suggested this for Hillary. Referring to a law that could prevent Trump from hiring his daughter and son-in-law to serve in his administration, Gingrich said on "The Diane Rehm Show" Monday morning: “In the case of the president, he has a broad ability to organize the White House the way he wants to. He also has, frankly, the power of the pardon."

"It is a totally open power, and he could simply say, 'Look, I want them to be my advisers. I pardon them if anyone finds them to have behaved against the rules. Period.' Technically, under the Constitution, he has that level of authority," he said, according to Politico.

Gingrich also suggested that Congress change ethics laws so Trump can avoid any conflicts of interest that his global business empire may pose.

“We’ve never seen this kind of wealth in the White House, and so traditional rules don’t work,” he said.

“We’re going to have to think up a whole new approach.”

Gingrich didn't provide any details for what a new approach would entail.

To great fanfare, Rep. Mark Meadows, chairman of the conservative House Freedom Caucus, last week released a list of more than 200 rules the incoming Donald Trump White House should immediately repeal or revise.

Most of the list, however, was not written by Meadows' staff or the Freedom Caucus. Large chunks of the "special report" were lifted from other places without attribution: websites of the Heritage Foundation and other free-market groups; policy papers and letters from industry lobbying groups; even in one case an entire paragraph of a Politico news article.

It is not all that surprising that the Heritage Foundation would be the source of a lot of the ideas on the deregulation target list, given that members of the Freedom Caucus have participated in monthly lunches with reporters hosted and moderated by the Heritage Foundation. But the report took many of its explanations about the impacts of targeted rules word-for-word from Heritage Foundation publications.

Meadows' office told USA TODAY they had intended to post a link to sources.

"The report is merely a compilation of rules and regulations that should be rolled back to be used as a quick reference point — not an academic document," said Meadows spokesman Ben Williamson. "We’ve worked with numerous outside policy groups and think tanks to comprise this list. This is an ongoing project and we are continually editing, updating, and soliciting feedback for it. A hyperlinked source PDF has been in the works since last week but has taken longer than we anticipated — the fact that the PDF was up for a few days without the hyperlinked PDF being ready was a good faith timing error on our part. You can find the sourced document on our website.”

The website link is a spreadsheet containing links to some documents and websites, but not all of the source language appears there.

“I do not know President-elect Trump. Or his people. No one has contacted me about moving the event,” Sabah said. “It was solely done with the intention of providing our guests with a new venue. We have been holding the event at the Four Seasons for years. There is a new hotel in town, and we thought we would give it a try.”
