Team missed Hathaway's energy. Chaisson was S### again, I guess back to normal.

Disappointed to read that Hathaway was an extra during practice today. Hope that changes. Would like to see him in place of Bouma.

Not like TB dominated us. Hockey is a game of inches, didn't go our way last night, deal with it.

Not sure which game you're watching. In the game I watched, Tampa totally dominated Calgary yesterday. I am not talking about bad puckluck or poor bounces. We were in Section 107, close. Tampa's offense was organized and well-executed. Calgary's defense was disorganized frequently. Jokipakka losing battles at the board consistently, Engelland being too slow. Several times, they have caused 2-on-0 or 2-on-1 shooting situations. They should have scored a couple more if not for Johnson in the 1st and Elliot in the 3rd. Tampa has a few giant players, of course - Hedman, Boyle, Sustr. It was not pretty having our smaller guys bumping into them and just ricocheting off, helplessly. And I noticed that Boyle was not even playing a mean game like some of the bigger guys do. In fact, he was visibly trying not to hurt smaller players bumping into him by stopping earlier and raising arms to protect the player! On almost every attack developing, Tampa was playing the system of gaining zone; it was the textbook execution - who gets where and takes a position. Cooper is a really good coach.
I am not a fair-weather fan that whines about loss of interest each time Flames loose a couple of games in a row. I hate Tampa passionately since 2004. It would please me a great deal to say that they sucked and I wouldn't be upset if Flames payed a really hard game and lost. But they didn't last night. In a close parity league, this was not a close game at all and it was not worth my $300.

Agree on Hathaway and completely agree on Chaisson. That guy is absolute garbage, even when we win he stinks. An 8-3 win over the Ducks, the guy gets three points on the night and STILL comes out even! LOL. I get that he is cheap and big, but that's about all he has going for him. I wish he would just get the F out of the way when Johnny has the puck!

I don't think the Flames played well and lost only because of bad bounces. But there were definitely bad bounces that affected the game. Gaudreau, Ferland, Bennett and Monahan all had good looks at goals which could have changed things at the time.
At the same time, they were doing things that they got away from in the winning streak - poor zone exits, missed passes, being on the wrong side of the puck, or just out of reach of the puck. The energy was missing.

Wow, it's like people have been itching for a loss so they can complain about whoever their fave whipping boy is.

I complained about him even with a win, as have most on this board.

Most? Most of the idiots on this forum maybe. And there are a lot of them showing up lately. Overall it's a vocal minority that doesn't like Chiasson and they haven't been able to be angry about anything other than off-sides which is quite petty for a guy who is supposed to be the goat.
Some of you guys just suck at evaluating players. Period.

Especially funny after that win when he scored a nice goal driving the net, assisted on another, and stood up for Bennett by fighting Cramarossa.
Even last night he made a great pass to send Monahan in on a partial breakaway.

Chiasson is just playing out of position because of our relatively weak winger depth.
He's not a horrible hockey player, he just is being utilized incorrectly.
I think having him as a 3rd/4th line tweener is where he would be most successful. He doesn't think the game or have the hands to play at a fast enough level to keep up with Johnny + whomever his center is.
More an indictment on our depth that he is forced to play higher in the lineup than he should than anything else.
Here's hoping one of Pribyl, Poirier, Klimchuk, Mangiapane, etc. pans out in the next year or so.

We have 3 scoring lines, Chiasson looks just fine on one of them. That's all you need to know. If you can't accept that he's a decent depth player, then go back to the Oiler boards because you are clearly not a Flames fan.
I don't get people who enjoy watching players fail just so their dumb opinion can be validated.
You Chiasson haters are no different than Chris O Sulivan's obsession with wanting Backlund to fail. It's pathetic.

Wasn't he the one to spring Bennett on his breakaway, too?

Was Tkachuk benched in the 3rd period? Didn't see him much and noticed Gaudreau playing on his line.

That was an incredible play, not just the pass but also the hustle to get to the puck, johnny just kinda chipped it ahead and Chaisson sped his way past a couple of bolts to get to that puck. Chaisson is by no means a great player, some of the criticism is justified, but you can't hate on that hustle.

People need to chill. You already look like fools for counting the Flames out earlier in the season and now after 1 loss some of you are back to the same garbage posting.
|
If there's anyone who needs to chill, it's you. You took my entire post out of context and got angry.
The Flames have the highest paid D in the league because Wideman and Engelland are overpaid. I agree that no team is capable of having 6 star D, not sure why you mentioned that. I said that Engelland is perfect for the bottom pair but what was is lacking is a #4. Wideman and Kevin aren't ideal.
Of course the Flames are going to lose eventually, and i didn't mention anywhere that the Flames are doomed. I just think that the #4 D spot is the team's biggest hole and if they want to be a contender it's the best place to fix.
