I'm still crunching the exact numbers, but I think I can sell the Pi already setup and ready to go, with a case and power cord and 2 generic controllers for $90. If you wanted specific controllers (NES,SNES,etc) I'd need to order those custom from my supplier at an additional cost.
I also can't include any preloaded ROMs (games), so you'd need to find these online yourself, which is pretty easy.

I'm intrigued and would like to sign up for your newsletter.
I've got the GWC Zero right now, but would love a multiplayer option on the big screen. The RetroDuo is awesome, but the prices of cartridges are getting to be insane.
Especially if you can get a usb 64 controller, count me in.

If you already have a retro duo, consider purchasing a flash cart to play on it? I agree that prices for retro cartridges are out of hand now. You've gotta be pretty diligent to find deals on the games you want.

You can also just take an old console like a Wii, Xbox, PS3 etc. that has HDMI out and hack them to put on custom firmware and loader with RetroArch. Chances are you might already have one of these things.
Plus, most of these can be fitted with big harddrives so you can basically have every single game released between 1975 to 2000+, even arcade games.
I love RetroArch for how much you can customize it. I have a filter/shader combination that actually looks like a proper CRT television (not just blurry scanlines, it's more like a crystal-clear Sony Trinitron with slight moire and glass distortion) while maintaining pixel perfect graphics over 1080p. I also have the thumbsticks mapped to different functions like rewind and fast-forward.
Have you ever played a classic videogame with rewind and fastforward ability? It's sick and I can't go back to playing without it ever again.

Might have to look into that, I do have a ps3 or two sitting around. The only downside there for me is I prefer an original-ish controller.
I do love save states and rewinding, though...
@Mazrim - this is the first time I've really heard of flash carts. I'll look into that. Thanks.

Here is the source for flashcarts the man himself. https://krikzz.com/store/
but can also be bought in the US at http://www.stoneagegamer.com/
Original hardware with flashcarts is the best way especially if you have your NES modded with HDMI.

This is fantastic. Can that be done on the Duo? (Edit: Wait I can probably just google that.)

Pulled out my childhood NES a little while ago and played some River City Ransom (even had to blow into the cartridge to get it to work)... Stone Hands FTW
My kids actually enjoyed playing it as well. For a couple of days all I heard was "daddy, can we play the fighting game again". So proud

I can't believe you let your kids play games like this.

You can plug any retro USB controller in or get a original controller and USB adapter. I have a Sega Saturn controller on my PS3.
