I don't know why it's so hard for some people to enjoy it when the team or certain players they dislike on that team are having success.
I hate Wideman as a hockey player but when the guy has a good game or a nice stretch of hockey, I'm more than willing to acknowledge it and eat a bit of crow.
Hamilton has been incredible for a significant stretch now, he's one of the best young defensemen in the game and still hasn't reached his full potential.
Agreed. Good question to ask those two posters. Actually one poster, im 100% convinced they are the same person
How long have you been around man? We have bitched and moaned about Iginla's traditional slow-starts every year for over a decade! It was practically a tradition!
Actually Iggy was a huge pet peave of mine. LOL I think for 1 player to have that much influence/control/admiration on 1 team screwed us for many years. We juggled lines that were successful to get Iggy going. Iggy would not play defense. He was a good powerforward before our good Stanley run, then he tried to "remake" himself into a sniper less physical. He put up good numbers because of his exceptional play time despite struggles. He was given more leash than any other player in Flames history. I'm glad you guys were moaning when I wasn't here. It is unusual though, normally you guys follow the party line when it comes to what the GM thinks or what the Hockey Operations guy thinks.

Hard to use Tkachuck in an argument as it's easier for a forward in a new system, In both years here Hamilton had to learn a new system and also play with a different partner(s).
And when Brodie was Hamiltons age he was barely a full time NHL'er
Always an excuse isn't there? Let's take a newer defenseman then. Kulak? I didn't mind him, responsible. Wotherspoon? I like this guy! Very good defensive defenseman, not overly physical but positionally excellent and can be physical at important times in the game. Hard to compare new defensemen to new system concerning Flames. Not many of them. How about we look up north. Russell, new defenseman, new system, new coach, new team. I rest my case.
So you name two defensive defencemen – that is, two players whose primary responsibility is at one end of the ice, and who are not expected to join the rush or generate any offence. Surprise, surprise, they find it easier to do their defensive jobs in a new system than a defenceman who is relied upon for offence and, in effect, is playing rover.

Maybe I am coming into this argument late but how does stating "Russell, new defenseman, new system, new coach, new team." rest a case? You actually haven't made a case to rest? Are you saying he is flourishing right now? Because he still looks like a 4-5 dman on the oil which means he is meeting expectations I guess

Russell started well, but is not playing well at all these days. Watch him on the Jets' first goal last night. The Oilers never had possession of the puck, yet there he was out at the blue line (actually the furthest from his own net).
The Oilers fans are all "he tries hard but all he does is ring the puck blindly around the boards and then block shots".

Hamilton has been amazing lately, but let's not forget how terrible he was at the start of the season... and the start of last season... I'm just looking for consistency and I hope he's able to keep it up. You know, because I want what's best for him and the team, but I just want to remind everyone in the midst of this fantastic stretch of that he's had a couple bad games, because it's important to dwell on that. This isn't negative at all, I said he's been amazing! Just keeping it real because that's what I do!
Am I doing it right? Am I part of the pebble shoe crew now?

Lets also not forget at the start of the season he was learning a new system and Giordano and Brodie struggled equally......and the start of last season he was on a new team learning a new system once again.

You forgot "look how much money he makes", "and if you disagree with me you are trolling" and "all of your counterpoints are just excuses".

Dougie Hamilton is the poster boy for the Calgary Flames recent turnaround.
Oh sure, the two Johnnys — Gaudreau and Chad Johnson — are the main catalysts.
But it’s the 23-year-old defenceman who symbolizes how far the Flames have come of late.
As part of the club’s six-game winning streak, Hamilton leads the way with four goals and an assist, going a remarkable plus-eight in that stretch.
And while performances like his might otherwise have been lost in the shuffle of the club’s stirring surge, his dramatic Orr-like overtime winner in Phoenix last Thursday caught many people’s attention.
