Icon25 Iginla willing to waive NMC at this years deadline

On HNIC Friedman said Iginla is wiling to waive his NMC and Colorado will try to accommodate him.

Thought this deserved its own thread.

honestly, i was surprised that he signed with the Avs rather than taking less payola and signing with an actual contender...

obviously, its easy for me to say, as I am not the one losing out on millions of dollars... but let's face it, over the course of his NHL career, Jarome has made enough money for generations of future iginlas...signing for a few million less to actually play meaningful games compared to... Colorado... they already look like they are in tank mode.

nice to see Iggy answer the bell at age 40... disappointing that someone else didn't step up in a 10-1 drubbing... but i guess that's why Colorado is Colorado...

Bring him home

3rd round pick turns into a 2nd if he scores 20 or the flames win the cup

Keep in mind Iggy signed with the Avs after they won their division lead by super rookie Nate Mackinnon, with youngsters Matt Duchene, Ryan O'Rielly, and Gabe
Landeskog.

That was the Avs unsustainable year and they let Stastny walk that summer.

Not the best team to sign with but it made a bit of sense at the time

There is a player on that team who has the same number of goals and only two less assists who earns half of Iginla's salary.

I wonder if he's also available.

He wouldve been pissing away close to 10 million $ or more if he signed 1 year deals with contenders. Hes a family man and Colorado looked to be on the rise so he decided to settle down there. Theres still very little chance that any contender he signs with wins the cup.

Come on home, Iggy.

Make it full circle. And we'll give it a run this spring.

If the Avs wanted to trade him for a 7th or a fringe prospect, why not. Beyond that, meh.

I say this as probably the biggest Iginla fan on the board but please don't come home Iginla. Iggy is the last thing this team needs. He honestly has zero game left and has a foot in the door of retirement.

According to Avs fans on HF they would take future considerations so a 7th should work

He wants to go to a contender though. Are the Flames a contender for the cup this year? Sorry, but I don't think so.

I could see him going to the Habs

Exactly. Iginla looked like he was basically pulling the "Hossa". Goes to two teams trying to win a championship but guesses wrong, and then signs for the best 'up and coming' team.

Remember, NYI offered him more money than the Avs. The Avs DID look like a contender in the making, and signing for 3 years was peace of mind for his family at the same time. I thought it was such a logical signing.

And then the Avs crapped the bed.

if we are a playoff team at the deadline, and the acquisition cost is zero or next to zero, i'd do it just for the story lol

Jarome Iginla is one of the three best forwards of his generation. He nearly scored 50 points last year. In what could well be his last season in the NHL, he's playing out the string in November.

That can't feel good. But you bring him home and let Johnny feed him on the power play and see if that doesn't put a spring in his step.

For ####s sake people, we once brought back Craig Conroy, just because. And then made him Assistant GM, just because!

Get Iginla for the stretch drive, and then kick him upstairs to close the arena deal.

This will cost nothing. It's an easy decision.

I would trade for him to play 3rd line RW (basically the role Chiasson is playing now).

Only thing is that the aves need to take equal salary back.

Remember one thing, the Flames have 3 lines rolling right now. On any given night, any line may get the most minutes. At this point in his career, Iggy would fit well here.

Bouma to the Avs for Iggy. Smid to LTIR. I would definitely want them to wait until the trade deadline to make a move though. Who knows how many good games Iginla will have left in those legs.

Gaudreau - Bennett - Iginla
Versteeg - Monahan - Brouwer
Tkachuk - Backlund - Frolik
Ferland - Stajan - Hathaway

He probably wants to go somewhere that has a better shot at the cup, but honestly he knows better than most how hard that is to figure out.
