There were a couple non-calls on JG plays a lot earlier, at 1-1 and shortly afterwards.

Younger crowd? You do realize the Adams Family Theme is from 1964? And the Mario Brothers tune is over three decades old itself. When were you born? During the Depression???

I've been up and down on Chaisson this season. I was really rooting for him early and thought he was a lot better addition to Gaudreau-Monahan than people were giving him credit for. After 5 games though I started to lose faith and thought his style wasn't working, he was too "north-south" and dump-and-chase and getting himself offside and out of sync with the line.
His playstyle was much better with Stajan because it was a simpler game, and Bennett was able to adjust I thought and also simplify. What I saw last game was Johnny adjusting his game to his line mates instead of everyone adjusting to him. Bennett and Chaisson bulldozed out of and into zones, they opened up space for Gaudreau to let him do his thing. Dump and chase works because unlike Monahan, Bennett is getting his hands dirty too.
Chaisson is reminding me a lot of Dean McAmmond playing with Iginla and Conroy. Straight up and down the ice player, grinds out the corners and gives his line mates space. He isn't going to score 50 points, but he plays an effective role, and does have a half decent nose for dirty goals.

That can opener from Vermette is a penalty 100% of the time. If the ref's hand was in the air (as it should have been), Johnny would not have thrown his hands up.
I agree that he doesn't help his cause by complaining, but that doesn't dismiss every non call. The Vermette non call is absolutely inexcusable.

Gaudreau also continued to get whacked in the hands in that game. If the refs were told to crack down on it and be aware of it... they obviously ignored the memo. I can't stand how it feels like refs in this league have such an ego about being called out on not doing their job.
At this rate Johnny will never get the calls he deserves. People try to say he embellishes but it's a simple fact that he makes guys look foolish so they hook, grab, and slash... the refs just don't call it cause it would mean he would draw a penalty almost every shift. I say... so be it! Call the game by the rules.

This.
I get so tired of people calling players dumb every time they get called for a penalty.
The simple fact of the matter is that players do what Bennett did multiple times per game. It gets called once, and that player is 'stupid'.
What Vermette did was far more blatant than 90% of the called penalties. And a pretty significant fraction of the penalties that are called are questionable at best.
It's pretty much a lottery these days as to what is a penalty and what isn't. Also, some players get targeted by the refs and others are apparently invisible. Calling a player dumb every time he gets called is pretty unrealistic IMO.

It isn't the refs' job to pre-determine who should gets penalties called against them and who shouldn't.
If they simply call the games fairly, and without bias, that would eliminate 90% of the negative feedback from players.

I agree for the most part. Penalties happen, and Bennett's are usually because he wants the puck. And because he sometimes overplays to one side and then grabs to try and get an advantage back, but that's something he has to learn not to do.
I agree that a penalty is a penalty, but when players constantly look to the ref (when it's obvious they disagreed that an infraction occurred) I just don't think it helps their cause. I understand why they do it, I just don't think it helps. Especially when they think the player is a diver.

Despite all that what a great game that was to watch. Very satisfying. Hate that team. Flames look real good right now.
One of my pet leaves in the past was watching our d-men throwing the pucks up the ice when they're in trouble, only to have it intercepted by the other teams d. It seems like they've stopped doing that this year, maybe the new coaches system?

Jeez, doesn't take much to attract attention here...
I guess I meant video game music in general. Not real motivational. People talk about the Dome being a morgue sometimes, might help if they had some good music. Mario bros doesn't do anything for me.
But, then again, I'm 95 years old so what do I know. Might even be your grampa things got pretty crazy back in those days.

I don't know about anyone else, but I'd appreciate more Darude and We Will Rock You.....maybe even the occasional Cotton Eyed Joe to spice things up.

I'd love some Ride of the Valkries, or Night on Bald Mountain, or Or Fortuna when they come in.

The morgue label long predates any switch to more fun theme style music.
