meh. It happens. he's right much more often than he's wrong. There are just too many people on CP who want his job and will find any reason to criticize him (see the game thread and his button for example).

Millions has been a supportive media voice for the Flames for over 10 years now. I'm glad he's around.

Thanks for posting this I missed the start of the game. Ferland throwing his bombs and really connected on Bieksa, totally different watching this to see the difference from reading the game thread and reading Flash Walken description.

It's more than an occasional mistake. He's rightfully earned a reputation as being unreliable, that's not a good thing, that's not something to be applauded.

lol @ wanting his job. That doesn't even make sense and has nothing to do with anything.

So, Bieska finally got to play in a game where Ferland really was irrelevant.

with who has he earned a reputation as unreliable? You? A handful of fans on a message board?

i'd like some evidence that objectively assesses Roger Millions twitter reputation. There isn't any.

Take his tweets for what they are - a guy getting information out as fast as he can with the information he has or his opinions based on observations.

That's the very definition of poor reporting. Ever hear of fact checking before printing?

At the very least Sportsnet should make him get a different Twitter account for covering the Flames. Then we won't have to get a heaping does of political tweets when looking for Flames news.

Full disclosure, I no longer follow that account for this very reason.

And the poor reporting.

For the record, I do not want Roger Millions' job.

For myself, I've just noticed that his guesses on injuries are often wildly off base. I'm not fussed about lineup mistakes because things change, and he's just saying what happened in practice. Wills does that too on the radio (but always caveats it).

I honestly think a lot of the issues with rmillions revolves around poor grammar. He doesn't use punctuation or "IMO" to separate observations (which I trust) from his opinion (which I sorta trust, but enjoy hearing). What he sees and what he thinks are often mixed together in the same sentence...

I don't use Twiiter much, so obviously I don't catch all of Millions' tweets, but it sounds from some of these posts that he may derive a benefit of going through social media training - that training that the Flames got their players to go through. Speaking out of my butt here though, as all I get is what is posted here.

Millions is fine. It's bizarre how obsessive some people get about sports media personalities, get a life!

It's twitter. People expecting more from a tweet I think expect too much.

Not when you're a reporter and people actually use your feed as a quick and concise version of reporting.

Joe Six Pack can say whatever he wants. Even analysts like Kelly Hrudey can say whatever he wants, but Roger Millions is the beat reporter for the Calgary Flames. He bears some responsibility for that position and shouldn't abuse it by reporting things before they're confirmed.

Twitter and all other social media has been the worst thing to happen to news media since....well anything. Everyone wants to be first and nobody gives a #### about being accurate. Worst. Thing. Ever.

Don't understand what the issue is with some of you and why there is so much emotion. Let's put aside the fact Roger Millions posted here and that some of you think he's a nice person. Set that aside and treat him like any other member of the hockey media.

Okay we're there? Good.

Bruce Garrioch is a poor media talent as well, if a rumour is accredited to him you always have have several posts replying to "take it with a grain of salt". Why is that okay and calling out another guy wrong? Sorry guys, but I won't hold Millions to a lower standard because he's posted here previously, not going to do that. It doesn't matter if it's injury reports, line matches, or how to pronounce Jakub Nakladal, Roger Millions will somehow report it wrong. He's in a rush to be first and would be better served taking a second or two and getting it right.

Also please don't brush things aside "because it's twitter". That's so ridiculous. Twitter is the tool these guys use now. Do you only accept things as factual if it's printed in the Sunday edition of the Calgary Sun?

Double also, and I hate the fact I have to say this, most know Roger and I don't exactly like each other, on a personal level. I think he's a good broadcaster but as a person I see him differently. I can separate the two, and I hope you can in any possible replies to this. That might not be needed but I feel like it'll be brought up and wanted to cut it off at the pass.

It's not "Wants his job" as in apply to the Flames on Calgaryjobshop and become employed by the Flames. He means, as in, they want Roger fired.

I too know Roger on a personal and business level, and contrary to what others may think, I will say he is one of the nicest media guys I have ever met, especially on a candid level, when the Flames broadcaster persona comes down.

Many forget he also gave the site a voice, and a Sportsnet piece, and unfortunately, none of his critics had the balls to show up and face him or the cameras with their vitriol.

Can only answer for myself but that's not true.

I covered this in a previous post, a lengthy post IIRC but Roger has one side of that story, a story he's spun to make himself look big and others afraid to face him. So many falsehoods that it makes my brain burn. When someone wants to meet for coffee and you agree, trying to get a day to work and they never nail it down that's one thing.. but, ah this is better served in PM. Far off topic now, we've said what we need to.

Good host, poor reporter. And as a person I'll leave those thoughts.

I'm not talking about about your rift with him MMF. I asked him to set up a meet and greet with CP members at Shanks, and he obliged. Cameras in tow to discuss the woes of the Flames at that time. Many committed, very few showed, and he ended up with a very embarrassing piece that got relegated to an online Sportsnet piece by no fault of his own.

And I don't blame him. It was almost cringe worthy, and also reinforced a lot of the 'online community' stereotypes. 90% of it had to be cut, it was bad. And I felt bad for asking after it was all said and done.

I know you and him have some sort of yin and yang thing. But if he is being piled on, I feel somewhat obligated to give a counterpoint as well. As I have had nothing but good experiences and cool stories to share about Roger.
