I am kind of hoping we get a wildcard spot and Tippett is available when we pick. We get a spot in the dance and can draft a big scoring RW.

It looks like there's only 2 defenseman projected to go top 20. Been awhile since I've seen a draft so shallow defensively.

Posted this in the WJC thread, but thought it might be worth having in here too for those curious about NHL Draft eligibles at the World Juniors. Scouting reports available by clicking player names in the articles, should you want some scope.
Canada:
Nolan Patrick - F
Finland:
Eetu Tolvanen - F
Kristian Vesalainen - F
Robin Salo - D
Urho Vaakanainen - D
Juuso Välimäki - D
Sweden:
Elias Pettersson - F
Lias Andersson - F
United States:
Jake Oettinger - G
Russia announced their roster, which didn't have a first-time NHL Draft eligible on it, but word is Klim Kostin could eventually be added if he puts together a strong showing at the World Junior A Challenge from Dec. 10-17.

I personally hope we pick 31st. If Tippett is around at that pick, so be it

I'd much rather win in the cup final than lose it but I guess it would be motivation for next year.

Thought I read on Twitter that Patrick won't be playing in the WJC this year?

Correct - they were saying same on TSN 1040.

Nolan Patrick has not been medically cleared to attend the National Junior Team selection camp and will not play at @HC_WJC. No replacement.

Wrote a little bit about Cale Makar in the trade speculation thread, however his stock is rising fast.
Some scouts now saying he is a potential 1st round pick. Already dominating the AJHL
Last night at the WJAC he set a record for d-men by scoring 2g+3a in a 6-2 win over Switzerland. Lots of NHL scouts in attendance
He is Captain of the Canada West team at that tournament.
Could be the Canadian Adam Fox, and he is from Calgary to boot.

McKenzie on TSN said Makar is shooting up the draft rankings. 1st round draft pick for sure. Could even be a top 15 pick according to McKenzie.

This would be the ideal outcome for this season if we don't win the Stanley Cup.

Are there any pure snipers projected in this draft ? That's the one thing I wish we had.

Owen Tippett, very similar to Phil Kessel.

Kind of pointless but found it interesting. Recently found out his dad did advertising for the Calgary Flames back in the day, he met Cale Huse at an ad campaign and that's how the name Cale Makar came about.
Like I said earlier in the thread this summer, I had the chance to watch him at the RBC Cup in May. He was my sleeper at the time for the draft. Gifted skater with good hands, very quick in transition, thinks the game at another level, and plays much bigger than his size.

I know a guy very close to the Mooseheads who sees them everyday. A hockey guy, no less. He says Hischier is the best two way player the Moose have ever had. Better than Mackinnon, Drouin etc. He said by years end he would be shocked if he wasn't in discussion for first overall pick.
