RIP.
But the dude was OK at hockey, doesnt make him different than the numerous other people that OD everyday. Posters here look down upon tweakers and voice their disgust in other threads but if you could skate and shoot, then you get some sort of pass, the ultimate pass.

I feel he picked the wrong thread, but that was his point.

Time and place man.
Plus I don't think most posters here "look down upon tweakers" and "voice their disgust".
Mega weird post.
Maybe start a thread about how people perceive addicts and have the debate there.

The Article says "accidental Drug(medicine) overdose", did you even read the article? Sure sounds like a terrible accident...Most people that OD are hardcore drug users or first time drug users, no one thinks they deserve to die. They all get the same respect as Mr. Svatos. Unless of course they killed someone in a drug fueled rage, then they do not have my sympathies.

Former Colorado Avalanche winger Marek Svatos had codeine, morphine and an anti-anxiety medication in his system when he died of combined drug intoxication last month, the Douglas County Coroner’s Office said Monday. Svatos, 34, of Kosice, Slovakia, was living in Lone Tree when he died on Nov. 5.

He had a history of heroin use and had gone through drug rehabilitation, according to the coroner’s report. He also had suspected depression, prior suicidal ideation, and “recent life stressors.”

“Drug paraphernalia was found at the scene,” the report said. Blood panels found traces of codeine, morphine and the anti-anxiety medication Xanax.

That is terribly sad. The worst part is that its seems people knew and he'd gotten some sort of help and it still went this way.

Heroin has a way of overriding everything else in your life. You think you'd be able to pull it together for your wife, for your kids, whatever. But you aren't.

Half the people that start this movie are missing or dead by the 30 minute mark. Heroin don't give a ####.

The line between opioids being useful and evil is so fine. So sad to see him fall on the wrong side. RIP Svatos
