re·tard·ed
rəˈtärdəd/

adjective: ######ed

offensive

less advanced in mental, physical, or social development than is usual for one's age.

informal - offensive

very foolish or stupid.

"in retrospect, it was a totally ######ed idea"

Kind of like you deciding it was okay to use the term.

Yeah, I think it's been about 5 or 6 years since that word was even close to socially acceptable.

Rowe couldn't have come off any more sympathetic in that interview with Friedman. Makes you like the guy a lot. Not sure how his owner's going to feel about being casually hucked under the bus like that, but I suppose there are a lot of fanbases who aren't in love with their ownership group, and as long as they like the coach and GM, that might help smooth things over a bit.

Rowe might be broadcasting for another job around the league.

I think it's been rather common knowledge that word isn't kosher around here.

How does this post get thanked so many times? ######ed is 100% an offensive word and don't need to look it up either. Just because a word in an accurate description doesn't make it ok to use it. Would you say "I cooked my chicken in the oven like a Jew" LOL?

Using it was bad enough, but defending it the way you did was even sillier. There are definitely 100% people on this forum who are physically or mentally challenged on this site and your use of that word doesn't make them feel good or welcomed.

Just switch to using a politically correct term like: idiot, moron, imbecile or feeble minded!

Or wait 20-30 years or so until 'special' is the inflammatory term and ###### is acceptable.

Since we're all chiming in with opinions, I'm a physically challenged person and I don't give a toss about the use of the word ######ed, nor crippled, gimpy, or any of the other words that people have decided are politically incorrect.

Thanks for taking it upon yourself to look out for my interests, but you can stop now. Especially if you're going to do it by using such terrible analogies.

I think the term he used it isn't offensive as it wasn't used on an individual or a handicapped person. It seems like many people do not understand what ###### or ######ed means. It had it's meaning long before some people started using it to describe a handicapped person.

Totally fair IMO in regards to using it towards a team. Some people need to lay off on being offended about every little thing. I won't name names but some posters hear continue to embarrass themselves repeatedly with their excitement.

######ation is an actual medical term used to describe people with certain disabilities I believe.

This is a hockey thread on a hockey forum, right?

Didn't realize you speak for all dis- or differently abled. I hate it when people use the "it doesn't bother me so it shouldn't bother anyone" argument.

Someone put this threat out of its misery.

So what? One person's opinion doesn't make it right. The word was used correctly as per it's definition. Grow some skin.
