I don't know, but I'm willing to bet you can figure out on your own the difference between how someone "chooses to look" and things like the sex someone is born with, the sexual orientation someone is born with, or the race someone is born with.
That answer isn't even including the juvenile-but-true reason: The way he interacts with his opponents has taught them how to interact with him.

Making fun of Trump's orangeness is like making fun of Pence looking like an airline pilot, it's not malicious (at least I don't see it as malicious).

Its more of an assessment of the media and people at large. You shame someone on how they look or what they identify as, or what bathroom they want to use, nowadays and you're a villain.
Unless it Donald Drumpf lol orange fake hair white male!
Imagine them making those comments for someone who is black and tans to look more african. Or Michael Jackson's pigmentation disease and resulting makeup

Ducay is right, I've personally always felt that being gay is basically on the same level as choosing to tan or what hair style I like.
Now excuse me while I go join the hoards of media and people at large making fun of Trump for being white... because that's definitely a thing that happens.

I must have missed when I was arguing people making fun of him for being a white male, or choosing to tan. I'm talking about shaming someone's looks, is looked down on nowadays, except in cases like this, in which case it is fair game.
Classic strawman diversion there though! Absolutely nailed it.

It's completely unacceptable to laugh at or shame a woman for how she looks? When did this happen?
The guy you are defending did exactly that to Ted Cruz's wife. And now he's going to be the President. So apparently it's not completely unacceptable.
Hell, he used to make appearances on the most popular radio show in the country to rate women's looks on a scale of 1-10.
This is obviously acceptable to his supporters, and you are apparently one of them.
Whinging about people making cracks about his absurd spray tan and bizarre hair-do comes across as a touch hypocritical.

Really? Because I could've sworn you mentioned "Orange fake hair white male" being an issue.
Anyways, the things you mentioned "not" being ok (gender, sex, which bathroom someone 'chooses') have literally zero to do with shaming someone for their looks.
So what exactly are you talking about? How is any of what you mentioned, which has nothing to do with looks, related to making fun of Trump for how he looks?

Is making fun of equivalent to shaming? To me, making fun of has that 'fun' part, as in it's meant to be funny, and we should all be willing to laugh at ourselves and our human foibles. Haha man I'm so tall how's the air up here? Shaming means one should feel bad and wrong about something.

I understand what he's saying - he seems to be arguing that it's usually frowned upon to mock someone's appearance (whether that takes the guise of body shaming or what have you); it's just generally regarded as classless. If it's well-intentioned teasing it's one thing, but if you're actually deriding someone for their appearance, that's generally pretty poor form.
That said, the notion that mocking someone for their appearance and mocking someone for inherent and unchangeable characteristics (like, say, gender or sexual orientation) are somehow equivalent is pretty baffling.

I can't believe this is a discussion. Trump has lost any ability to deserve respect as a person after how he has treated others. He insults EVERYONE based on whatever nonsense is in his head at the time. The idea that calling him Orange Jello is somehow equivalent to shaming a normal respectable person is laughable.

Also, while some people might just be mocking him in the way that people mocked Dubya for his speech (or Obama and his random pauses, for that matter), there's actually a substantive component to this in that the guy is a complete narcissist and insists that no one else touches his hair... yet, to borrow a phrase, it's a total disaster. He's obsessed with his image, yet somehow thinks he looks good as a giant oompa loompa. He cares so much about his appearance, yet looks like a clown. It's a good shorthand representation of what an absurd caricature of a human being he is, and is directly linked to one of many reasons he's not suited to do this job.

I do appreciate how a lot of Trump supporters have tried to play the "high road," (oh you shouldn't say those things, that's not nice, be respectful) after voting in a man who has always repeatedly taken the lowest road possible and was voted in because a large section of his supporters were tired of being called out any time they weren't nice, respectful, or PC.
For a group that spends part of its time hating on special snowflakes in safe spaces, they're looking like they could use one of their own.

I think this interview is probably the best that Noah has done since taking over TDS. He was polite and personable, but he also called her out when he needed to, and pushed some hard questions that she simply had no answer for.
Also is this white woman really downplaying, to a bi-racial man born in South Africa during Apartheid, whose actual existence was a crime in his youth, the issues with the KKK? How tone-deaf can you be?

Its interesting to think what the situation will be like when he cant come through on all these promises and lives aren’t better. How many in the country will be against him? End of an empire? What happens when they realize there is no drain in the swamp?

Based on this discussion I really don't get what is ok. I think you and photon have said that it is ok to make fun of someone for how they choose to look if you think is funny and something they had control over.
Based on your responses
I think these are a no go:
Gender
Sexual orientation
Race
seems ok so far
Ones I am not sure if these are ok based on your (collective not just Pepsi) comments:
Height
Weight
Amount of hair on head
(all are definitely rude but you could argue are not choices so not allowed)
Ones implied to be ok:
Hair colouring
and by extension other choices
Hair styles (maybe even hair straightening)
Toupes
Tattoos
Piercings
Clothes you wear (for example you could make fun of emo's or hipsters etc)
I think these are all rude, and probably should be avoided but if all are just someone's choices and you find it fun, people should be able to laugh at themselves it is allowed.
Is this correct?

Kind of surprised this is so difficult for some to grasp. Is it a choice? Then sure it's fine I suppose. Argue about the politeness of it somewhere but overall it's damn simple. You don't choose race, sexuality, height, etc. You choose to have a stupid haircut, or get an ICP tattoo, or make yourself orange with fake tanner.
Really complex stuff here I tell ya.

I think that's pretty well how society functions, yeah.
I don't think anything is safe from a joke (race, sexuality, whatever) done in the right spirits, but I completely reject Ducay's narrative that making fun of someone for their orange tan is morally equivalent to shaming someone for their sexuality, or that the two can be looked at through the same lens.

Nothing too hard to grasp, just wanted a handy tip card so I know who I can make fun of.
I'll start with my wife (black) who chooses to straighten her hair.
If I don't report back in a few days you will know I have met my demise.
