They shot him twice. He's like Jason Vorhees.

I don't agree.

I think, and have said this for a while, is that Hilltop, Alexandria and The Kingdom band together for a war with Negan.

They showed how Negan's operation stays together. You have a series of lesser bullies beneath Negan who are loyal because they like the bullying lifestyle it affords them.

Simon was also very careful to ensure that Negan got the best loot from Alexandria and the good stuff ended up on the "Negan truck".

In fact he clearly said he was taking credit for the scotch.

An offering to the big man goes a long way.

Well of course. Rick's got people in all three locations. Of course they'll team up.

I just think there's going to be trouble in Negan's paradise.

To be quite honest I think many people either forget or ignore that fact. Or they have never really read comic books and underestimate how over the top certain parts can be. Over last couple seasons we've seen a few scenes (Rick with blood all over his face screaming like a madman at the Hilltop, the arrow through the eye and Glenn trying to talk to maggie with his eye bulging out of it's socket) that were clearly meant to emulate what was shown in the comics.

That scene where Carl and his clinically depressed girlfriend were roller blading holding hands. Would have been great if that was through a mine field so they could both be put out of their misery and in turn put viewers out of their misery of having to watch these two characters.

I guess Judith no longer requires being watched or taken care of? One minute Carl won't leave her side, the next he's gone off on a top secret solo mission to hunt down Negan. Seems plausible to me.

Thank god for the Trevor (Simon) scenes. He's actually a better character than Negan.

I would assume Rick was taking care of Judith or Father Gabe?

Sorry if this was mentioned (I am trying to avoid spoilers from the last episode), but I read that the first episode of the season was one of the highest rated for TWD, but it has slid since then and episode 5 of this season was the lowest rated since season 3.

I think like a lot of people, the lack of an end game in sight is making it less interesting. It's just rinse and repeat. It might work good for a graphic novel, but for TV that structure doesn't seem as viable. I still like the show, but with so many other good shows and limited time, it is starting to feel more like a chore.

Also, I think the first episode of the season was so dark that some people were turned off by it.

There's just so many things wrong with what he's doing. First of all if he really loved Judith as much as they portray then he would never leave her to depart on a suicide mission. Second does he not realize if he gets caught that it's going to lead to the Darryl effect where someone he likes/loves will be killed? Rick's petrified to have a stray gun on site yet Carl is going to infiltrate their camp all by himself and it never crosses his mind the steep repercussions of being caught? No wonder viewership ratings are dropping to near season 3 levels as the show is starting to get a little silly.

I do believe that the first episode turned off some fans but not enough to drop the ratings as far as they have plummeted. This happens to all popular shows as they peak and after that there's a fairly steady ratings decline because it's hard for a long termed show to retain originality. I do believe however that the zombies have been so marginalized that a lot of fans feel like the show has turned into a survival soap opera and there's only so many times you can go through the "good group meets bad group, good group wins, then good group meets another bad group" etc. You kind of get the feeling the show really blew their wad with the whole Negan thing and it's not been met with the enthusiasm or fanfare they hoped. I will continue to watch the show as I expect there's only another season or two left max but Westworld has been so good that it's the show I prioritize watching Sunday night while I PVR TWD and watch it at my leisure as it's no longer must see TV.

It's pretty ridiculous now, I mean we get it he's a bad dude. But five episodes and it's all the same. It's like watching a dog get kicked over and over.

^^and yeah westworld on Sundays is probably a reason too

Agreed, he presents very well, and comes across as smart.

He's a bloody teenager, the vast majority can't think 5 minutes ahead let alone the consequences of their actions.

My most engaged moments were when there was a hint that society had possibly been trying to regroup, discover a cause/work on a cure, etc.. (distant radio calls, etc.) It seems they have completely abandoned that possibility so it has become exactly as you suggest....survival soap opera.

For me, I liked the "fall of civilization" aspect int he first couple of seasons. I guess you can only drag that out for so long though.

The walkers have really been nerfed too much IMO. The show lost too much of the horror aspect.

The show after all is called The Walking Dead but now they have been rendered as background noise as anyone can now take down a horde of zombies with simply a knife. Every season they are minimized more. Kind of a shame as I enjoyed it more when they were on the run from zombies and other groups were added obstacles. Now the show is about human vs human and the zombies are more of a nuisance like mosquitos. Would be nice for them to come back with some more zombie stuff but it's hard to imagine being able to make them a thread again seeing how weak and pathetic they are.

Am I the only one who doesn't feel like the Negan stuff is being dragged on as some seem to? He's a brand new primary antagonist...it was inevitable that a few episodes would be spent depicting him and his henchman carrying out thuggish acts to help establish the character. I didn't presume that he'd bludgeon everyone in episode 1 and that the Warsaw uprising would be organized and executed two episodes later.

Also, it's clear that he'll meet his demise at the hand of Ezekiel's tiger. Some form of harm will come to Ezekial at the hands of the saviours, and the debt will finally be repaid from all of those years prior following a feral rampage.

As I've stated a few times now, I believe Rick and his group are 'The Walking Dead' rather than the Walkers.

Its a nicely symbolic double-entendre.
