I think what makes Ferland especially difficult to handle on the forecheck is he seems to have a few extra gears when he sees an opportunity for a hit, sticklift, or even just to block a play along the boards.

He seems to have maxed out his skating speed, then suddenly takes a few heavy strides and accelerates incredibly quickly out of nowhere.
