You're absolutely right - and it's absolutely what's wrong with the powerplay. You should not be game planning to work the puck on the boards during the PP. When the puck is on the boards, your players need to out-man the defence there and get it off the boards.
Keep the puck off the boards, and play with it in dangerous spots where you can actually take high quality shots.

So your top goal scorer isn't on the PP hey? There's a GREAT idea.
These special teams coaches need to be punted ASAP.

God help us if we get a 5 minute major penalty against us tonight. We could literally give up 7+ goals in that powerplay alone.

I sort of see the Frolik thing to be honest ... so too did Hartley and Gulutzan it appears.
He's a north/south player that doesn't have that quick move / quick read angle to his game. He's just not suited to the powerplay.
Now given the woes of the powerplay they could certainly try him, but I certainly see what they're seeing in the make up of his game.

Yep. How anyone can excuse the coach for team wide career lows is mind boggling to me.
And then there is not playing Frolik on the PP when he is the only player not on a career low. Yep, good thinking there coaches.
6-1 Clb in this one

I love the addition of Brouwer this season but to have him, Versteeg, and Mony as one of our top lines.....gross. To make matters worse, we're a cap team.
Where's Kathy Bates? I'm feeling a bit of Misery

While I see your point the his play not be best suited for the PP, I am more inclined to agree that the PP has been so terrible then why not try him. Right now a north/south player than is very good at zone entries could be exactly what they need, but to never try him is the ridiculous part.

tfw when your coaches are unintelligent
But Torts disagrees
Wes Gilbertson @WesGilbertson
Tortorella on Glen Gulutzan: "He's progressive. I think he's got a really interesting insight to the game. I think he's a terrific coach."
Has this kind of reverse psychology gamesmanship ever not worked against the Flames?

While I try not to be over critical on the coaching staff because I don't know what's going on behind the scenes, I'm just not a super fan of the lines.
I'd rather see:
Tkachuk-Backlund-Frolik
Versteeg-Bennett-Brouwer
Ferland - Monahan - Hathaway
Hamilton-Stajan-Chiasson
Giordano-Brodie
Hamilton - Engelland
Kulak-Wideman
Johnson
PP1:
Tkachuk-Backlund-Frolik
Hamilton-Giordano
PP2:
Bennett-Monahan-Brower/Versteeg/Ferland
Wideman-Brodie

None of Versteeg, Mony and Brouwer are on the top line.
Tkachuk, Backlund, Frolik are :P

4th game in a row I won't be watching I believe. I know "no one cares" but considering I used to plan my schedule around watching the Flames it's a big deal to me.
Look forward to the reactions on here win or lose.

Game should be on SNW
Tonight is weird. Each SN channel is showing a different game and it would appear none are blacked out. At least none are showing up on Centre Ice for me and they usually do for SNE/O/P games.

Paid the Flames a compliment and then instructed his players to hack Johnny. Watch your back tonight guys.

God damnit GG.
How do players keep going from the bench to the first pair/line?
How do you justify keeping Chaisson out there. He sucks BIG STYLE. Kills every play he touches the puck and does not hit! He is beyond useless.

I think you're correct, but the coaches need to look at how that's working so far. Might as well try something new. Is there any other team that doesn't use their leading scorer on the power play?

I fear the Cannon will get a major workout tonight.
Tell Rob Kerr that it might be a good night to take off.
