I think it's time Burke takes some serious heat
Since we have a new hierarchy on some NHL clubs, the GM to me is not the only guy taking the heat behind the coach, it should also be the President of Hockey Operations.
He came out and stated that "sweat" was not an issue on the team. Meaning effort. If that is not the issue, then talent is the issue here. He's been here long enough to ensure that truculence is in the Flames club. Before Burke, we had Sutter ensuring truculence as a GM. To coach a truculent team requires a very very special kind of coach to motivate the team to make the other team suffer as much as it does. At the present time, gone are the comeback kids Byron, Colbourne, Hudler (not a kid), Schlemko. A few others.. All of these players acquired under Feaster. All I would say are talented in their own way. I felt the team was acquiring an identity. Right now there is no identity. Worst PP in the league, worst PK in the league, one of the worst defenses in the league given the amount of goals allowed. Now that we have some goalies that have had high save percentages, we can now obviously see it's not just goalies that are the problem here.
Burke made the big change in GM, I don't see promise here. In fact, I see a decline. Burke must accept responsibility for this mess.

A guy that never passed by McDonalds? Yes I sure do. If you are talking about 1 bad move, given the many good moves he made. Yes I do. Hired the Jack Adams winner, drafted Johnny Guadreau. Moved some terrible no trade contracts for some decent prospects. Yup, that guy.

Yeah...I dont know how much blame we can attribute to Burke.
Hes not the GM.
I'll admit that Brad should be feeling the flames under his feet by now, but Burke? For hiring Brad?
Honestly I'm not sure where the blame should be going at this point, I look at this team, on paper, and I think they're a good team.
Its not working on the ice. Forgive me, but that for me tends to point the finger pretty squarely on the coaching staff.
This team is better than its record, for their record to be better people have to start performing, thats on the players and the coaches, the people at ice level.
If Treliving hired a crap coach? Thats fine. It was a mistake. People make mistakes. Fix it.

Feaster lost almost every trade he was involved with and deferred almost all hockey decisions to Weisbrod. He was not suitable to make hockey decisions.

None of these were the result of Burke. The only player I would take back from the bunch is Byron.
Schlemko walked due to the log jam on the D-Core.

Ramo last season was a .906 save percentage. Goalies were taking the brunt of the heat.
This season Johnson has a .911 save percentage.
Elliot is at .882
Goalies not the problem. I also wish Ramo the best, he deserves another chance on a good team.

Maybe Treliving hired a crap coach, but who hired a crap GM? Hamilton is obviously a mistake, that one trade changed the Flames identity and performance dramatically.

He's above Treliving on the organizational flowchart and I firmly believe that accountability should start at the top so he should feel some heat.
That being said let's just get rid of the Assistant Coaches already. Special Team play is sinking this team.

We've changed the coaches, we have a team of guys in the office to make decisions (and changed the GM not to long ago), and the results haven't changed. I am not really sure that either of those are the problem at this point.

Crap GM? I'm sorry, but in my opinion Treliving is still punching well above his weight class. I think hes made some astute moves and we fundamentally disagree on Hamilton.

I'm not saying that he should be above reproach, he should feel 'some heat.'
With the team playing the way they're playing everyone's feet should be held to the flame.
But what does that mean? I mean, as far as Burke is concerned, hes an 'Elder Statesman' of the hockey world, hes pretty much seen and done it all, I'm sure hes not happy with current state of the team.
What do you want to do? Fire him? I think that would be a mistake. Ditto for Treliving.

Obviously not you. People asked if we remembered who Feaster was. I remember him as being over weight, but a good GM.
Perhaps people should be better at framing their questions better and thus receive better answers?
Make sense?

I sometimes wish the Flames hadn't made the playoffs two years ago, and then maybe people would realize that where the Flames are now is maybe not too far off from where they should be.

Statesman in the game of hockey, yes Burke is influential in the game. Above reproach, no fricking way! I've seen decline under Burke, not improvement. We Flames fans saw almost a decade of truculent hockey under Sutter. I do not want to suffer another decade. Sutter as a coach is different than Sutter as a GM. The team they have now reminds me of the down years under Sutter the GM stewardship, with the exception he had an outstanding goalie in Kiprusoff. He hit a grand slam home run with that acquisition.

Ok so let's be clear.
This type of crap is not an acceptable response.
Do not try to pass the buck back to the person asking the question.
You knew exactly what you were doing when you responded.

Are you for real? You start a thread that you absolutely had to know the majority of people would disagree with in some aspect, you appropriately get called out on it, then get all butthurt and start tossing out snarky responses like this and the Feaster fat joke.
