maybe the refs will screw them the next 6 games too!
The only call the Texans really got screwed on was that 3rd down run where it appeared he got the first down yardage. The 4th down run was much closer to the point replay was inconclusive. Hopkins was out of bounds and that was the right call.
I do think the Raiders are about 1 more draft away from establishing a real contending team. If they add a big tight end to the passing game, and a couple pieces on defence, that would pretty much complete their roster. Even today, I don't see why they wouldn't be in the AFC Championship game. Risk being that they get outgunned by a team like the Steelers, or bad weather results in a sloppy defensive loss to Oakland. I don't see pretenders like KC, or Houston touching them. The Dolphins might stay hot and make the playoffs, but they too would need something to make it a defence rules type of game.
I hate to admit it, but Derek Carr is a definite keeper. If there ever is a post Brady era in the AFC, he'll be at the top of the QB class with Andrew Luck, and possibly Marcus Mariota. But he'll have the advantage of having a more complete roster around him.

Ken Norton Jr is the worst defensive coordinator in the league so until he get's replaced I don't consider the Raiders true Super bowl Contenders. This defense plays below their talent level more than not. Unless the team goes on a Cinderella run I expect there's a good chance he gets fired in the offseason. Offensively they can line up and go toe to toe with anyone as they have a diverse offense that can beat you in a lot of ways.

But Del Rio is a DC by trade. That secondary is awful. I wouldn't put this on Norton, he might be a little green but he's had some good mentors.
Although, I think you're a Raiders fan so you obviously have a more intimate knowledge of the team than I do.

Sean Smith and David Amerson were both top 15 ranked CB's last season. Carrie and Hayden are mediocre but I believe PFF ranked the secondary 15th overall at the start of the season. The linebacker group struggles in pass coverage hence TE's doing the most damage. Trust me I know a bad defensive coordinator as Norton is one of the worst defensive coordinators to ever coach for the Raiders and given the last 10 years of futility that says something. If he was any good Carol wouldn't have passed him over for the DC job when Dan Quinn left for Atlanta. When the head coach has to step in and assume the play calling duties it's usually a death blow to a coordinator.

PFF is an utterly terrible site. I think it was week 3 last year, but Aaron Rodgers had 5TDs and over a 65% completion percentage, Jameis Winston was sub 50% completion and had 1TD and 1INT, PFF ranked Winston ahead. Football Outsiders trounces PFF.

Football Outsiders isn't exactly lights out either. They currently have a pretty crappy Eagles team at #2 in their DVOA rankings.
I don't think FO is perfect by any means, just way better the PFF. They explain their breakdowns very well. Historically they have always put more value on defense and the Eagles have a very good defense (#1 ranked) and have played half of the their schedule against top 10 offenses. If the Eagles offense were actually good they might be 9-1 right now. Their defense being good shows Schwartz is really good at defense and Chip Kelly is really bad at coaching.

I hate the Raiders as much as I love the Broncos, but Derek Carr is the real deal. I'd take him over Luck right now.
That said, they aren't winning the division.

I like Carr but I can't trust the Raiders yet. Defense isn't good enough. But the nice thing for them is that's where the bulk of the draft pick and FA capital can go.

Big game for the Donkeys and Chiefs this weekend as the loser is likely out of the running for first in the division.
The loss would harm Denver the most as they'd be 1-3 in the Division. That said, there's no chance Denver loses on Sunday. They easily beat the Chiefs by 14 or more.

You have a lot of faith in the Broncos sputtering offense.

I'm thinking 24-3 with 2 defensive TD's plus a 20 yard TD drive thanks to another turn over. KC is worse on offence than Denver, and not as tough on D.
