Hoping the Bennett-Monahan-Brouwer line can continue this and if so keep them together and move Stajan to the wing on Backlund and Froliks line. Keep Ferland-Hamilton-Hathaway line and bring up Jankowski if he is still lighting it up in the AHL to center Gaudreau-Jankowski-Tkachuk line.

Bennett-Monahan-Brouwer
Gaudreau-Jankowski-Tkachuk
Stajan-Backlund-Frolik
Ferland-Hamilton-Hathaway

Send Vey back down and keep Bouma and Chaisson in the pressbox in case of injuries and to spell off Hathaway if his play goes downhill.

Thought they played well, deserved better. Screwed by a crappy rule, no way that goal should stand. Oh well, move on.

Solid game from a lot of players. Kulak and Tkachuk continue to impress. I like the top line, playing with way more jam and I like that.

Tough break tonight but use it to move forward, need to continue to battle. We'll get there kicking and screaming.

If the flames had any power play at all they would be good

Flames deserved a better fate at least 1 pt. Unlucky goal if it even was they didn't replay it at the game.

Tkachuk shouldn't move away from Backlund and Frolik. That's a perfect line

Can't say I remember a loss this year where I was happy with the way the Flames played. Really good game especially when it's 3 in 4 nights against Chicago.

Brodie had a rough game again... The timeout was used because of a poor choice by him to try to hit Frolik with a stretch pass instead of doing a shorter pass up ice... Leading up to of course the inability to challenge the Hossa goal on a play that could have been avoided if Brodie tied Hossa up instead of trying to swat the puck in the air.

Regardless, i think it was a good performance by the team

robbie might be onto something there... just keep Tkachuk with Backs and Frolik, and put Versteeg there instead. Gaudreau - Jankowski - Versteeg may be quite dangerous upon gelling.

I was watching old London Knights highlights on youtube and saw Tkachuks one timer from the right side on lots of goals (reminded me a lot of Iginla's cannon of a shot only opposite side) and was thinking Johnny and Jankowski could feed that one timer which could help this powerplay actually become productive.

I also remember Stajan had some chemistry last year with Backlund when Stajan was moved to the wing for a game or two.

Tough loss. But lots of positives tonight in my opinion. Monny and Bennet looking great together. Backlund line always fun to watch. Pretty impressed with the 4th line.

I know alot of you guys seem to love Chaisson around here but I just don't see it. The guy is a liability and seems to make whoever he plays with worse. Can't break out and doesn't back check. That line stuggled and Stajan, who usually good for lots of positive emotion, just couldn't get anything going tonight.

Overall I think we looked much better and I hope we can take this improvement forward.

Hmm, I stand corrected on my incidental contact comment then. I had no idea in a rebound situation this rule existed. Learn something new every day.

I guess then it would have had to be determined by the ref if there was actual goaltender interference, which was probably a close call, but obviously there was no arm in the air, nor any penalty called. Tough play.

A couple rough moments for him, but I actually like Brodie's game tonight. He was skating and joining the rush, which usually means he's in the game. A step in the right direction imo, even if it wasn't a perfect game for him.

Rule change suggestion:

If you don't have a timeout remaining, losing a challenge means your team gets a minor penalty.

Never change CP.
1. CP isn't a person, there's bound to be lots of comments

2. "out of it" doesn't mean literally zero chance. It simply means there is very little chance. It's not just mathematics, it's that there's been nothing so far to suggest the flames can suddenly start playing well consistently. A good game here and there? Sure. Could they make the playoffs? Sure. Is it at all likely? No

3. San Jose is on the cutoff line at 1 game over 0.500. The flames have played 2 more games and sit 4 games below 0.500. The whole 3 points thing is extremely misleading

I thought that all goals were reviewed. There shouldn't have even needed to be a challenge. There was obvious goaltender interference. The officials need to do a better job. What a shame that this game was decided by a bad goal.

I can not wait until I never have to look at Denis Wideman again.. he is just.. terrible at all things hockey.

Good game from the home side. I like the energy they have going.

Not a knock on Johnny but I like that the team isn't able to rely on him for generating the offence. When he comes back, if the team keeps playing this way, it will take a ton of pressure off him.

Makes sense -- essentially 2 minutes for delay of game.
