Default Yellowstone Park accident

Wow. They should have stayed on the path and obeyed the warning signs.

http://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-38018209

The remains of a man who died in a hot spring accident in Yellowstone National Park were dissolved before they could be recovered, it has emerged.

Colin Scott, 23, died in June in an illegal attempt to soak, or "hot pot", in the US park's thermal pools.

The accident was recorded by the victim's sister on her mobile phone, the incident report says.

Default Yellowstone Park accident

Yikes. That's a gruesome death.

I know when we went camping there I was a bit sad that there were no hotsprings in the Jasper/Banff sense, but we didn't feel any inclination to go into one of those pools. As pretty as they are, the smell is off-putting enough to make you question the safety.

The smell, and the numerous signs that state certain death will ensue if you decide to venture off the trail and sit in boiling water.

Yeah I read about that earlier today, "the video wasn't released fortunately", no kidding.

"In a very short order, there was a significant amount of dissolving"... What a truly horrible way to die.

How is that soup tasting?

Seriously though, I read this news and the death must have been horrific. I feel for the sister.

Agreed. But he executed the Darwin award better than anyone I've heard of yet. Completely and totally removed his genes from the pool.

Is that a pun? I think that may be a pun.

I'll allow it.

Well done.

However, imagine that in a twist of irony, a cataclysmic event causes a mass extinction, but this particular hot spring combined with remnants of this guy's DNA becomes the next primordial soup, and he becomes the common ancestor for next Earth epoch.

Could happen, right?

Come on people- hardly the appropriate time or place for jokes or movie references.

Well...yeah...but based on this sort of behaviour that was probably only a matter of time.

I doubt the sister would have been able to get him out of there and I am almost certain she would have been pulled in as well had she tried to help. This sounds horrible though.

My suggestion is they send in experts to certify that the park is safe.
