I didn't expect them to be this competitive this year, that O is young and lethal (well save for the old man slinging it), D finally starting to come around and also very young. I'm excited for 2017.
They've certainly been a surprising welcome distraction from that garbage dump that is the Flames so far, I feel bad for you that you're having to deal with that in Connorworld. Thank Jebus i got out of there a couple years before that went down..

I suppose the bright spot for the Saints is that they are done with the AFC West already, and have the Seattle game off the docket. They still have 4 Division games remaining too. So if they can go 3-1 in the Division games, and find 2 other wins in the other games, they might put themselves in position to win the Division.
Them and the Chargers seem somewhat identical in that they seem to be competitive every week, but one play seems to put them on the wrong end of scores. They still have a very dangerous offence that's always capable of going off.
As for living in the city of McDavid...it's lovely. My reception for Fan960 is pretty hit and miss and the question is...do I risk listening to the two idiots on this sports station. At least they have Herm Edwards on Thursday mornings on my drive to work and he's worth the listen. A couple weeks back he was talking about when he was coaching and he was down to his 4th string QB and he's thinking to himself...this is bad, I better start looking for a job in T.V. next year.

Hahaha totally forgot about Herm! He was always a beauty quote. Yeah when I was driving to school the 960 reception was decent in some places and terrible in others, I'd usually get frustrated and just put on 1260. Is the morning dude finally capable of saying the word "Calgary", or does he still just call them "the red team" through gritted teeth? What a clown

After an 0-3 start and zero expectations for myself on this young team, I'm just happy and frankly shocked they're even able to still talk about a potential division title/playoffs in mid-November. Not expecting much to come out of it, but I'll enjoy the ride while it lasts (which could be realistically over as soon as Thursday, you're right that's a huge game in the South). I'm just very encouraged with the play of young players for next year, and the D finally starting to come around. Lots to build on for '17.

As someone who has watched every Saints game this year, I'd be very optimistic going forward. The defense still certainly needs some work but they are enough to let that offense do its thing. Always nice to see Brees doing his thing. If they could land a decent CB and gain a bit more of a pass rush they could be looking at the division again in a very short time frame

Yeah, CB is definitely a point of contention going forward. The frustrating thing is they actually do have some promising young talent there, but they can't stay healthy. The pre-season play of second year CB PJ Williams is a big reason why the Saints felt comfortable releasing Keenan Lewis in the first place...then Williams ends up on the IR in week 1. Until Breaux returned, the Saints top 4 CBs were all injured and out, it's been so frustrating man.
I think the most amazing thing at their surprising competitiveness is they're doing this with $43.8M (!!!) in dead cap money. Sooo many awful big name signings over the previous few years that bombed, that needs to stop

Saints looking like Andy Reid style clock managers on this drive.

Pbp guys thought it was leg or ankle. My only guess is that he was in so much pain that he started hyperventilating or just plain old sobbing.

Saints really didnt do themselves any favours with some boneheaded plays and Carolina was the better team for the most part.
Good to see that Ingram looked fine, I think it was a stinger he suffered vs a concussion. Awful to see one the the real NFL good guys in Luke Kuechly out for what I imagine is the season.

Interesting.
I thought we were going to be talking about a ruptured tendong or something in that left leg given how it planted. Those kind of injuries are usually the ones that you can tell right away

Oh boy did they ever. I felt the D started really strong and had Cam and that O stopped in its tracks, but then a Brees opening drive fumble on their own 30, then later throwing a wounded duck that gets run back to their own 35 and results in 7. Then tack on yet another blocked kick that results in 7 for Carolina, there's 17 points from turnovers right there. Plus returner Marcus Murphy electing to play the ball at the 1 when it was about to go out of bounds on the kick-off and should've been at the 40. Just killed all their early momentum and Carolina took over from there. Saints ST has been all-time bad this year. It's the same stupid mistakes every week, this team can't get out of it's own way.
Was just happy to see them make a game out of it after it was 23-3 and make Cam sweat a bit. Still a frustrating way for it to go down, you can't turn the ball over that many times on the road against a quality team (despite the record) and expect to win. I like the direction we're headed going forward, but they still have a lot of growing to do and fill some more holes before they'll be a true playoff team.
PS- those jerseys tho. Want

Something isn't right with him in the head and you can see it's effected him on and off the field. For a period of time IMO he was the best QB in the league as no other QB can throw lasers on target like him and he could do it in the pocket, on the run, side arm, etc. Not sure if he can ever get back to being that QB but it's possible that a different coaching staff will be brought in to try and get him back to where he was a few years ago. I feel this happens a lot on teams that don't have a great supporting cast and live and die with their star QB (Colts and Saints for instance). The team is pretty ordinary on paper so when Rogers isn't lights out they are a pretty ordinary team as their record indicates.
