People hate Canada geese. They're considered a menace in most places. I believe they even kill them in the UK as if they were giant rats. There is a broad consensus that this would be the worst possible decision.

Also, Canada Jay is an alternate name for the Gray Jay.

Shouldn't it be Grey (not Gray) in Canada (Commonwealth)?

I remember looking through the options though, and the Whiskey Jack did sound the best to me, mostly because it sticks around in the winter.

It was those dastardly American ornithologists who gave the Americanized spelling to the whiskey jack!

Quote:
In 1957, the American Ornithologists’ Union decided that, based on a nomenclatural system they no longer use, the species should be called “gray jay” — at least for scientific literature and field guides. Meanwhile, its Latin name is Perisoreus canadensis, and in French it is Mésangeai du Canada.

Google translate says:

Mésangeai du Canada

=

Great Tit

Wait, what?

I also like how in most pics, the Canada Jay just stares with a sort of calm analytical look. Cool bird.

They really are! A canada goose broke two ribs of a friend of mine...

Mind you he did shoot the bird first so I guess in a way he had it coming.
