Time for our players to step up to the plate and deal with the players involved on December 2nd.
Remember the old days when Bobby Clarke would crosscheck people's teeth? Or messier would elbow players in the head? Yeah, those were the safe days

Darren Haynes @DarrenWHaynes
From Treliving update on Gaudreau, it's finger on right hand that is broken. Seen shaking left hand early in game, that was a blood blister.

Darren Haynes @DarrenWHaynes
While I documented 21 slashes with a pretty wide range of severity included, Brad Treliving's slash count on Gaudreau was 11 -- still a lot.

Street Pharmacist, let's be adult about this, I am not for one minute advocating that kind of butchery, just that the players tune in the malcreants, that is not just affecting our team but the league, and customers who pay good money to watch the best players in the world. Better yet as I stated previously, have the players association speak to the players about mutual respect. You don't have to like someone, but you can respect their abilities. I only hope that the Flames can dig deep like they did when Gio went down and do the same thing.

Probably concede 2 pts but goon it up. If the Flames are far back in the standings Dec 2 sure why not this team needs to show some bite to a bark.

Gooning it up on the players is useless because the real culprit is Boudreau. This kind of BS is why Roy went ballistic on him.

Street Pharmacist is right though. You can't dream of going back to the players policing themselves, when it was clearly a far more violent game across the board when that was a thing.

I googled 1980's slashing NHL and this it what came up. There are more bad slashes in the first ten seconds of this clip than in the 21 slash salute video.

I was only disagreeing with the notion that "the good old days" when players policed themselves somehow took care of players. Only it didn't. Players still got hacked and whacked. It wasn't safer back then.

I do agree this is on the league and PA to start taking it more seriously however

Back in the good old days without the instigator, when star players like Bobby Orr and Mike Bossy weren't targeted and went on to play long, fruitful careers.

The heady days when you couldn't lay a finger (or a crosscheck) on Mario Lemieux's back because of the fear instilled in you by the goons on the opposite bench.

Yes, my friends, those were the days.

"I mean... whenever you're a great player, you're going to get keyed on. We do it too. We talk about their top players, and making sure we finish our checks. Making sure we make it no fun for them. So, we have to respond and not let that happen. That being said, it is going to happen once in a while, and I do it to other teams' top players too, but we've also got to do a better job of making sure our presence is felt when something like that does happen."

The last sentence of that statement wasn't included in the video clip I saw, so that was the context I was coming from.

It's all fun and games until someone loses a star player for six weeks. I think it's time we saw a little compassion from the NHL and reffing association... however... I don't know the last time we were in either of their good books so...

put me in the camp that's disappointed with the way the Flames handled this. I mean I understand, but I just was hoping for public backlash more for something interesting to follow haha

This is hot trash but hopefully gives the Flames something to rally around. They could tighten up, grow, and be much better by the time he comes back.

I feel we've never really been whiners or complainers as a franchise.
Maybe hoping taking the high road will pay off.

Apparently not. Look at Detroit and Pittsburgh.

Soon to be joined by the McOilers no doubt. And the MatthLeafs.

The Flames get no respect from the refs and almost never have. Goes back a long ways. No idea why, but it's not a new thing. Probably because they never complain.
