Kesler just got knocked the fudge out by Domi about a week ago. Last night against the Oilers he was crosschecking and interfering with Mcdavid away from the puck whenever he could.

Players who are in the NHL because of their work ethic/agitating abilities aren't afraid to eat punches.

The only real solution is the NHL policing that type of aggression, and the players themselves don't think its much of a problem, so I don't see anything changing.

I loved it when Ferland slashed Burrows on the hand off the draw in the playoffs that year.
Not because I like stick work, but I like seeing a dirt bag get done dirty.

Yeah, I'm just arguing against getting some meathead goon or "bruiser".

All they do is fight other goons and get outplayed on the ice. If folk really want vigilante justice then the team has all the tools they need to enact it... it's just that enacting it involves the "Chicago Way" and all you need for that is the amorality involved in deliberately injuring someone and the willingness to have a disproportionate response.

This isn't just random slashing/ stick infractions, though. The problem is that this appears to be a premeditated plan to slash at the hands of the best puckhandler of a team. If there appeared to be a plan by teams to blind side the other teams best player as a strategy, yes, I think the GMs would take action.

Good discussion about the hand slashing on Prime Time Sports right now. The kind of discussion that pushes an issue like this to the fore front.

You don't need your coach to go crazy. I still remember the last few minutes of that game against Nashville when Darryl was coaching... It's too late now - that message should have been sent once it was determined this was a concern.

			Yeah.
 Not a great response.

He doesn't have to say anything too crazy but a "We need to stand up for each other, and play for each other in the locker room" type of thing would have been nice.

I actually cut him some slack with on that one. You can't drop the gloves because you'll get an instigator, and he can't publicly blast the refs because he'll get fined. Not much else he could have said there.

Add this to the list of reasons we should have hired Boudreau. Johnny wouldn't be injured right now.

Not a satisfying answer for us fans, but it probably is the best he could say. Any indication of retribution won't go over well. "Stand up for ourselves" is ok, I suppose, but borderline retribution. Perhaps he should have said, "We intend to send a very terse letter to the Commissioner. Good day, sir.""I said, Good day!"

"We're gonna get Staal" (get ready for the suspension).
"The refs are blind" (like the Flames don't already have enough of a problem with the officials).
"The refs are out to get us" (see all of the above).
"We're screwed if Johnny is taken out" (that oughtta play well for the team's morale).

I think he's playing it like "Johnny's out, we have to deal with it". And leaving it to management to deal with the larger issue.

So take the instigator.... unacceptable that he's been slashed pretty much every game. The reason being because the Flames allowed it.

You annouce you are going to retaliate before you do and you probably get more than an instigator.
