As someone who hasn't checked out the GTD's as much recently, I'm just really happy the pickles thing is still going strong. It's all we've got right now, dammit!

The more concerning thing than the record is that the team has looked convincingly good once this season (the win vs St Louis). That should not be the case in a season that's supposed to show signs of a team that should be on the upward trajectory of the rebuild.
Its not a knee jerk reaction to realize that the vast majority of their play in 16 games so far has been extremely sub par. You don't even need to look at the standings to know that.

You're right. It is not an over-reaction to point out that the Flames have played much more consistently terrible than well. (But I would disagree that they have only "looked convincingly good once this season." They were also very good in the SO win in Chicago and in SJ.) The over-reaction is the response by fans who insist that the poor results are indicative of how this team will perform through 82 games, or that they should be met by an immediate coaching change. It's still too early to know how good or bad this team really is.

I have nothing to back this up or no proof but while listening to GG talk today I had an overwhelming feeling that today will be a really solid game that helps turn the season around. I may actually watch tonight after losing a bit of faith the last couple of games

We lose until there's a personnel change. The team folds like a cheap lawnschair at the first hint of adversity, oh no... the ref missed a call... well there's always next game.

New coach (GG-17th game) vs new coach (Boudreau-15th game). Let's see which "new coach" performs better.
The media keeps making excuses for GG saying that a new coach needs 20 games to get the team adapted to his system. So why are the Wild so much farther ahead despite having a new coach for roughly the same number of games?

Actually feel like we'll win a close one tonight and get spanked at the dome tomorrow just because that's how this team rolls.

It might have something to do with Boudreau's decade of NHL coaching experience combined with a veteran laden roster. But no, you are probably right: both coaches and both teams are totally comparable, and progression is always linear.
