I just hope they look like an NHL team tonight...
Also Bennett on the wing is ridiculous. He's 20, he's going to make mistakes. You can't punish him for every single one. Let him play through it. There's a lot of guys who deserve demotions and benchings a lot more than Bennett does. It's getting really hard to keep giving Gulutzan the benefit of the doubt.

Yeah, I think he is over-managing Bennett. A little patience, support, and coaching would be how I would handle him (as opposed to benchings, line juggling and changing positions).

sadly, I could substitute 'the defense' in for Bennett in that post and it would be equally applicable.

The Burke/Treliving/Gulutzman trio is starting to resemble the Lowe/MacTavish/Eakins era in Shelbyville. Hopefully the Flames owners realize this quicker than Katz did.

I think, the team's problem is the speed. They slower than Hartley's team. Always one second late for forecheck, backcheck. When they get the puck the other player is right there, so they need always fight for the puck. If they will get 1 second earlier they can make a little bit easy play. So they need to go back and improve their speed.

Constant hesitation caused by second thoughts and self doubt aren't helping that team speed any either.

The desperation is palpable. It's one thing to say let GG work this out, but that would imply that he's preaching consistency and going in the same (positive) direction. It's not happening. It feels like everyone but the coach already knows we are destined for a bottom 5 finish.

I personally think Burke/Treliving have done quite well for the most part. This team should be far better than the standings and eyeball test indicate.
The coaching staff decisions are looking pretty suspect at this point of time though.

A day or so ago I was thinking a Ferland-Hamilton-Bennett line would be OK. Good tenacity and grit with a decent amount of skill. Not a fan of Bennett-Stajan-Chiasson combo. Maybe trying to get Bennett to simplify his game a little.
I'm going to positive and say the players are at least a little embarrassed by their performance lately and come out with a fire in their belly.

I'm calling it right now, Bennett will be considered a bust in a few years, not because he sucks, but because of donkeys like Gulutzan.

I bet the FLAMES win tonight
Johnson in net, Brouwer on the wing, Hathaway creating energy, I lIke it.
However other aspects of the lineup are silly.

Was there any semblance of a plan before the season started? All it looks like is random line juggling and praying something clicks. This team is embarrassing.

I'm wondering what these lines would look like
Gaudreau-Monahan-Brouwer
Tkachuk-Backlund-Frolik
Bennett-Jankowski-Hathaway
Shinkaruk-Stajan-Ferland
I think that would be an improvement on what they have right now.
Mind you, if it was up to me Alex Chiasson would be in Stockton right now.

I haven't minded Chaisson's game, maybe a little too north-south for the top line, but he worked well early on the fourth line and letting Bennett play a simpler crash and bang game might take his mind out if it and allow him to just play.

THey wont put Chiasson in Stockton because that will be another Burn on Tre's record.
Already had Grossman demoted. Vey is another suspect signing.
But I agree, if it were me, Chiasson would be eating popcorn in the pressbox or riding the bus (in the seat near the toilet) in Stockton

Prediction, Flames take a minor penalty in the offensive zone, and it results in a Wild goal.
