Engelland has arguably been the best Flames d-man this season.

I'd be pretty ticked off if he was sitting for Nakladal.

Yeah, if we had Nakladal at league minimum, that would be like the 4th worst defenceman contract on the team.

Lol you'll do anything to look like you're right. You are so wrong on Engelland it's not even funny. You won't even post the advanced stats that you love so much because they "don't always tell the story" when the story doesn't follow the story you want to tell.

Grossman was signed strictly for financial reasons. This is still a business. It was far from stupid, it was an extremely smart move when it comes to cap management.

Engellend has played pretty fine to date. Some smart plays. Penalties only in contentious player governing where he needed to be. I.e. defending Johnny. He's had reasonable production and hasn't had to many errors.

Contract was terminated because he did not report to the AHL.

And who could really blame him if going home is an option.

As much as the torches and pitchforks are out for Treliving, you have to be happy that it isnt us waiving Nakladal.

But still, signing Grossman instead was inexcusable.
You can argue the reason for signing Grossman and then cancel his contract is to maximize the LTIR cap. But to game the system to save cap space that may or may not be necessary at the end while risking losing games (Grossman had possibly caused the team to lose a point or two), it is pretty stupid.

Gaming the system gained 1.8 million in cap space that wouldnt have been there(could be wrong I'm taking this from capgeek). That can come in pretty handy down the line if there is another injury and movement tis required.
I don't think you could find a single other person on this board who could blame grossman single handedly for a loss, that one game he was arguably responsible for 2 of the goals but they rest of the team was hot garbage as well.

Yeah, the whole one way contract demand was to avoid the A, IIRC. Due to uprooting the family concerns.

Default Nakladal is on Waivers

All teams pass up on a cheap contract and depth blue liner. The fact that we consider him for our team tells you what kind of quality of defense we have been treated to lately.

Regardless of what we have waiver wire players aren't the answer. I think I trust all 30 Gm's in the NHL who don't think he is an NHL dman. Sure he played for us last year, but we were also in the bottom 1/3 of the league. Same reason why I don't understand the Granlund stuff. Bottom line, both are fringe NHLers if that. Does Granlund make a roster on any of the teams in the top half. I don't think so. Too many 'member berries around here lately.
