Took 18th through Lynnwood then went down to Ogden Rd. Basically followed the river after that.

^ I hope they fix the path by next spring, I'd like to get back to riding down to the bird sanctuary.

Broke out my Thunderbolt today and went for a rip thru fish creek. man, that is a fun bike to ride. Seemed surreal to be riding in November in shorts and passing people eating ice cream.....

Broke out the bike on Saturday for the first time in a month, and ho boy was that a wake-up call.

I went out and bought a trainer as a result.

I got the results of my MRI back yesterday. The good news is that there are no tears or cartilage damage. The bad news is that I have a ganglion cyst that connects to both the ACL and MCL. There is another cyst that extends the joint space into Hoffa's fat pad. Ganglion cysts are common in hands and wrists, but appear about 1% of the time knees. The result is that the cysts pinch on ligaments when moving, causing the pain where I can't cycle. Has anyone else dealt with this?

The doctor recommended going to physio. From what I've read, this won't make the cysts go away, and I won't be able to get back to long distance cycling. From going on the internet it looks like several people have gotten it scoped, and were fine shortly thereafter. There was a professional soccer player who had his knee scoped and was back playing in the world cup a week later. I was expecting it to be cancer or lupus, being that it was on the internet. I'm looking to get a second opinion on the treatment, but if anyone has any suggestions, they would be appreciated.

Coys, you asked for a link earlier. It's the nasty little pathway uphill beside Harvest Hills Blvd beside Country Hills golf course.

That sucks.

In happier news, I was in Canmore yesterday and today, got 2 good rides in! Could not believe the weather for mid November. So nice. The town was absolutely packed, too.

Ugh, hate hearing about serious MTB injuries. There is a post in the fb Moose shuttle group explaining that it was on 7 of 27. Hope this guy heals up ok.

Squiggs: Ganglions are generally pretty simple issues to deal with... mainly because they are usually pretty superficial and easy to access. Inside of the knee joint is a different story. What can be done depends on exact size and location. I've heard of a simple needle aspiration/cortisone injection under ultrasound guidance if it's big enough and close enough to a access portal. If it's tucked away, yeah, you'll need a scope to get to it. But that's a pretty straight forward thing too.

I too hope this rider is ok.

IMHO 7-27 is deceptively tough, there are a few difficult parts to navigate and then towards the end there is that section with a slight downhill grade between tight trees.

This was the first rescue I heard of in the area. Made me wonder how often help is called for out in the area

I've called in help before, but it's usually for the guys doing the big drops on Race of Spades.

Sooo once again I've been threatened by a driver going through the 8th street underpass. If you're revving your engine, driving aggressively and rolling down your window to yell at bikers maybe you're the one who shouldn't be allowed on the road.

Is there anything that can be done about these jackasses? Would CPS do anything with a plate number?

I think if the complaint is bad enough, or if they get more than one they will go have a word with the driver.

I've had cops tell me in informal situations that they will show up at the house of a jackass for this type of road rage stuff with time allowing.

That's great to hear. I've never been able to remember to take down a plate because these road rage incidents really get the adrenaline going, but I'll definitely try next time. Would love to shame these people with a GoPro video, but I'm not sure it would make for exciting footage.

I ride a whole 3 blocks to get to the pathway system from my work. Some donkey decided he needed to aggressively cut me off so he could get to the red light 50 metres away. He asked me if I thought it was a bike path or a 30 zone. I thanked him for all the handy information listed on the back of his work truck. "How's my driving?" Now his boss knows what a ####ty driver he is.

Still not dressing super warm. Long pants and the long sleeved jersey with my fall/spring jacket worked. Toque as well, of course.
