You have selective reading. Firstly you said call for peace which means you know not all the demonstrations are peaceful and that is what you want Trump to speak to. Secondly I said previously protestors and rioters. Good job indeed.

Details from Trump's interview on 60 minutes. Says he'll the judges will be pro-life, and that if Roe v. Wade was overturned that it would go back to the states and some women may need to go to another state.
On the other hand with same sex marriage Trump says it's irrelevant if he supports it because it went to the Supreme Court and it's settled law, it's done.

I wouldn't call quoting exactly what you posted selective reading, but fair enough you did say both earlier.
I don't think anyone would disagree that everyone has the right to a peaceful protest and that rioting is illegal and isn't good for anyone, and I'll assume you agree that Democrats are no more or less prone to rioting than Republicans.

I used the term rioting in context, because you want Trump to speak to the people that are breaking the law not the people that are protesting peacefully.

Peaceful protesting is not the issue which is why you are insisting Trump address the people that are NOT protesting in a peaceful way. If you are trying to make some other point then kindly clarify.

People are just as prone to stupid behaviour which includes rioting, racism, violence, lying etc. there is no artificial divide because a person happens to identify with a particular political party.

It doesn't matter what Trump says to the people protesting they are not going to listen these people are protesting a democratic election and screaming for someone to "fix this ####". The only thing that will satisfy them is if by some magic the entire election process is nullified and their candidate becomes President.
What do you say to that? But Obama could at least try and and appeal to their better judgement and tell them to stop vandalizing.

Well, the only thing I can really add is what happened in my little corner of the world down here.
As always, I applaud your knowledge of and insight into what goes on in the old USA.
So, I can just relate what happened in my office of 66 people.
Most are lifelong Democrats. At the moment, only 3 will admit to being Republican.
Since we work at the post office and, except for 2 of us, belong to a union, we generally agree that the Republican platform is against our best interests.
So why did at least 12 of these lifelong Democrats vote for Trump? Those are the ones who admit it, anyway.
Out of 66 people, 6 have bachelors degrees; and about a third have some college.
2 of the college graduates have become citizens within the past 10 years. One is from Nigeria. The other is from Colombia.
So, every morning about 10 Trump supporters would meet in the break room to bash Hillary. These are the same people who said they couldn't stand Cheney, Gingrich, Hannity, Limbaugh, Ben Carson, etc etc.
Immediately after the election they talked about how " hot" the new First Lady is.Okay, she is.
The part that got me is them saying, Oh, we're allowed to say that now, and we can call MissX on route00 a fat hag now because that's what she is.
Wow.
Over the past few years most if our new hires have been African Americans and Hispanics, which has led many of my white coworkers to think the hiring process is somehow rigged.
"Don't any white people need jobs" blah blah blah.
I realize this doesn't add much to the discussion. Just my corner of the world .
I go to the red areas of Central Florida (which of course is almost all red, I know) because of the beautiful springs and forests, and none of this election surprised me.
I am in Palm Beach county , which, as you know,is blue.
I drive past that damned golf course at least twice a month and his house about once a week lol

Ah ok I see, sorry I understand what you're saying now. I actually only meant to be referring to protesters, I didn't mean to imply that Trump should speak to only the people rioting. When I said "call to peace" I didn't intend to mean just rioters, I meant all of it.
Because honestly I don't think there's anything that can be done specifically about rioters, they'll always be drawn to a big group of people regardless of their beliefs. Just telling them to calm down isn't going to do much.
But if the protesters don't feel the need to protest anymore, there won't be large groups of people for them to join.

FWIW I was talking about Trump giving speeches to his own supporters with a unifying tone in the hopes that the rash of hate crimes and racist bull#### subsides sooner rather than later and society can go back to being relatively functional.
The protesters should just protest until they feel they've protested enough. As long as they're non-violent, there's no reason they shouldn't express their disapproval of the guy who got elected.

The 60 minutes interview is amazing. What a 180 for Trump. Conciliatory, diplomatic. Best troll job in history.

Meanwhile the worst of the worst in the US is fired up and I'm hearing about things that should be on the way down. Sad. Trump completely disturbed the entire nation with his antics and comments and now he's sitting back and playing nice as if it didn't happen at all.

Totally. If I was one of his hardcore supporters, I'd find a lot to be livid about in this interview.

There's still a long way to go but as a start he just said "stop it" in reference to said actions during the 60 minutes interview.

Came in with a game plan of who he needed to appeal to during the campaign, did it, and now it appears he actually intends to make the country better. Unless you're squeaky clean and charismatic like Obama, I feel like that's the method of operation to win any election.

I now kind of want to friend my uber right-wing US relatives on FB, and watch all their heads explode. Because I know they are already seething.

Fascinating interview.
Hard to know which Trump you're going to get, but it's entirely possible the far right just got tricked into voting in a pretty left-leaning republican.

If he goes too center or left, he'll just get impeached and they'll have Pence take over.
