I can't comment on the game.

But this season I've gone from sleep deprived Friday or Saturday nights watching the Flames live from 3 am to watching the game when I wake up.

This morning, I thought, #### it, I'll just check the score.

Glad I did.

Washington - Ovechkin (1st), Backstrom (4th)
Pittsburgh - Crosby (1st), Malkin (2nd), Fleury (1st)
Chicago - Kane (1st), Toews (3rd)
Edmonton - McDavid (1st), Nugent-Hopkins (1st), Draisaitl (3rd)
Los Angeles - Doughty (2nd)
Tampa Bay - Stamkos (1st), Hedman (2nd), Droun (3rd)
Montreal - Price (5th), Galchenyuk (3rd)
Florida - Barkov (2nd), Ekblad (1st), Huberdeau (3rd)

Even the Leafs look totally different than last year with Matthews. Colorado is a wildcard but they've had a few good years with MacKinnon and Duchene. Same with the Islanders with Tavares. The reality is you don't get franchise players drafting 6th overall every year. You get good pieces, but it never gets you over the hump. Maybe the Flames need a few shameless years.
Out of the 10 teams you've listed only 3 have had any type of playoff success (LA, Chicago and Pittsburgh). Washington and Tampa have been good regular season teams but haven't been able that extra push from their high first rounders to get a cup. Edmonton hasn't even had a playoff game in 10 years. The Panthers have only made the playoffs twice in five years. A number of high draft picks helps teams win but it's not the reason teams become contenders. Pittsburgh, Los Angeles, and Chicago provided veteran support with their young stars to win the cup.

You need a good mix between youth and veterans to become a successful team not just high picks. And I think Treliving has done good in getting character veterans to mix with the team the past two off-seasons in Frolik and Brouwer. We need someone to play with Monahan and Gaudreau line and another winger for Bennett-Brouwer's line. Those are supposedly our top two lines but have 2 glaring holes in them. Unfortunately we don't have any players that can fit either of those positions until Tkachuk gets back. It might be worth trying him on Monahan and Gaudreau's line to see how things go when he gets healthy.

Not sure why everyone's hitting the panic button.

I mean we're on pace for 5 powerplay goals at home this year

I'm frustrated and angry. I'm not ready to abandon ship. I'm an eternal optimist. Next game they will figure it out.

I doubt they'll be sacking Glue gun after the next game.

But we can always hope.

I've been waking up every day for the past week or so hoping I see an alert on my phone that he's been fired. It would be a nice birthday present to wake up to in the morning but I'm expecting it to drag on for atleast another month.

So glad I watched UFC 205 tonight rather than this tire fire of a hockey team. Now that was some great entertainment!

Brad is probably hesitant here. He knows if Glen is fired, he could very well be next on the chopping block.

Have to admit also that I watched UFC over this. Tried to watch on Game Center but after they were down three nothing I shut it off. I tried to watch the bright sides earlier on in the season when Bennett's line was doing well and he was on a four game point streak only to get benched the last two games he got points only to play scared and hasn't gotten a point since. Then to have chaisson take two in the same game and get played more irks me, as it would a younger player. This team is broken from the inside and doesn't look like returning to form this year.

Post-game Glen Gulutzan: "We're fragile right now."

Ughh. I thought you were coaching NHL players, how have they now seemed to become special snowflakes.Get over it babies,Hillary lost,no more participant ribbons and popsicles for everyone, get to work or GTFO. Fat old white guys are now back in charge, time to bring back some good old time hockey-kick some ass and take some names instead of offering a hankie, some warm milk and a soothing embrace...

I just did a quick search, we've won 1 of our last 7 and have been outscored 27-9 in that span. Someone needs to be fired or traded immediately preferably the former.

Trying to stay positive: They scored a PPG at home and 4 teams lost by a larger margin tonight.

Some serious fairweather fans on this site... Yikes
At the same time, we've had one playoff appearance in the last seven years, and Gultuzan and Treliving have already combined to torpedo this season by somehow managing to take the franchise backwards. There does come a point where even the most die hard fan bases give up.

Speaking as an STH, I am finding simply going to the games this year to be a burden rather than entertainment. I have supported this team through a lot of down years, but at the same time, how long should the Flames expect us to pay to support them when they clearly have no idea what they are doing?

I have been watching the Flames since 1983 and have never seen a non-compete team like this AS A WHOLE. Lifeless look on the bench, coasting on the ice and playing Butler style defence. I am ready to give up watching before mid November. Oh my goodness please fire the coach to start shaking things up!

Our team is the first in the league to 10 losses. They're currently in 29th place but likely in 30th after the coyotes catch up in GP. They're coming up on the quarter mark and they'd have to go better than 15 games above .500 to make the playoffs. It's over early and it's embarrassing. This is year 5 of the rebuild.

What's even more embarrassing is the way they're losing. Not even a sniff, just terrible boring hockey, down early and they collectively give up. Listless, getting beaten to pucks, can't make a pass, terrible giveaways all over the ice, horrible body language from both players and coaches. Special teams worst in the league by far and it's not like they're getting PP chances - just disorganized, can't enter the zone, can't regroup, when they do setup they pass around the perimeter until they give it away.

This coaching staff is brutal. They talk about how awesome the other team is after a loss like they're star struck, how their own team isn't prepared, and how their own team is fragile. News flash buddy, both of the latter are your job. Wow are they ever clueless. And that's not even discussing the hockey decisions.

The team's star player doesn't know what the team's identity is supposed to be, the team's #1 C is a total ghost, and the team's captain is one of the worst players on the ice every single night. Nobody is standing up for each other, there is no fire in their game and when they show some passion they get benched.

This is a key pivotal year in the rebuild when they added a few veteran pieces to complement the young core. They improved their goaltending and they should be competing for a playoff spot.

It just really, really sucks. We have been through years and years and years of mediocrity and suck with one miracle year that got our hopes up for no reason. This is a new low for me as a fan, I'm afraid to admit.

I'll still watch and go to the games and I still love the team but wow I haven't cared this little probably ever.

Burke and Treliving need to realize that we are not the Oilers and you will lose all your fans pretty soon here.

Something drastic needs to happen fast.

This Flames team is bad. Period.

Not that it's much better, but this is year 4. 2012-13 was year 0 as that was when we finally dumped the old core and committed to rebuilding.

Nothing drastic will happen fast, nor should it.
Now is not the time for management to panic and do something drastic.
They will play through this and get better. No where near good enough to make the playoffs. Probably no where near poor enough to get a top 3 pick.
It is what it is.... and it sucks. Again.
All else will be evaluated and hopefully eventually fixed as we grind through another season of misery.
Treliving has one season beyond this one, not more or less.
Sigh...
