Default Time to panic yet? Or still too early?

I've been saying all along, I didn't like the start. I didn't like the apathy shown by some players. I don't like our creativity. I don't like the "fast defense" that the Flames tried to deploy this year in the way of a system. The system might have worked with previous Flames teams. This team is not fast enough, or committed enough, doesn't think the game fast enough. Doesn't hate losing enough.

I've reduced my expectation of the Flames making the postseason at 10% to 1%. It's very early still but I don't see the ingredients to be positive at all of a comeback. I was much more optimistic of Feaster's vision and players drafted than I am under the present management. Feaster made a huge mistake for a rookie GM trying to acquire a colorado player, other than that looking back he was the best GM we've had since Fletcher. He was loaded with underperforming vets with no trade clauses and was able to turn the team around. I doubt Gaudreau would even have been drafted with Burke in management at the time.

For those that still care, it's time to panic. The season is all but done. Already. In early November.

No need to panic, just grin and bear it because it's already over. The only good that will come from this season is a high draft pick and selling off assets.

I am lost as to what "panicking" accomplishes.

Has anything good ever been born from "panic" moves from a management side of things?

If you mean "panic" as a fan...I'm curious what that entails? Quit attending/watching? For ease of mind I would say that's your best bet, though it really doesnt do anything to help the team, unless it occurs in mass numbers.

I guess I'm just curious what it is that should happen.

Yup settle in for a year of getting used to new systems and focusing on improving. It sucks but if that's what Calgary is looking at this year then I hope they make the best of it. Capitalize on teaching moments, build team chemistry, smooth out the rough edges, etc.

Not what we expected this year maybe but on the other hand, they weren't cup contenders either, not in my mind at least. So, one more year of struggles, small victories and eventually a new high draft pick.

Whadaya gonna do.

We are past the panic stage.

This team is done. Cooked. They have shown absolutely nothing that might indicate we are capable of turning this ship around.

We either ride it out and embrace the suck to draft top 5, or we make a few changes in the hopes of finishing 20th.

It was time to panic about 5 games into the season. Glue gun is clearly not fit to be the head coach for the team. It's too late now for the playoff chances to be salvaged.

We're not making the playoffs this year, if that's what you mean by "panic." We have the worst defense in the league and the worst goal-differential by a substantial margin.

Farewell 2016-17 season, we hardly new ye.

It'll be time to panic if Gulutzan and Cameron are still here on July 1st, 2017.

You can argue it's not the coaches fault all you want - but I'm not buying it. You can't blame him for everything, but the fact that this team has shown zero progress from game 1 through game 16 speaks to the issues at hand.

This is yet another rebuild year. As much as we'd all hoped we were rounding the corner, we just aren't there yet. It's already time to look at Liljergen and Patrick and hope...and that sucks.

Gulutzan is our Eakins.

No need to panic, this season is over though. Time to tank full on this time and then fire Gulutzan at the end of the season.

If we get another season of this crap with a new coach, it's time they fire Treliving, blow this team up and start rebuild V2.

Replace 'panic' with 'apathy' and that is where I'm heading. The management need to be proactive now if anything is to be salvaged this season.

I have very little confidence anything substantial will happen in both our strategy and our fortunes this season.

I just changed my expectations of making the playoffs to getting a high draft pick.
I'm ok.

I'm sure the Flames will catch fire once making the playoffs is impossible and the pressure is off.

Very Oileresque of you.

Time to panic has set in but this was a team that picked top 6 3 of the last 4 years so I do t think many are shocked. The fact we are a cap team with 3 players under 24 being paid top $ anger is the emotion I am feeling the most

I've moved from panic to acceptance.

Panic time will be if Gulutzan and co are still around by the time other teams are in the playoffs

Fans can panic but management shouldn't. Brad needs to take his medicine and stay the course without making any panic trades. He can fire the coach sooner than later and promote Huska or Cameron in hopes of maybe turning around the season but otherwise it's time to accept that the only thing that you can do is sit tight and hope for a high lottery pick to at least get something to show for the miserable season.

Does anyone think the players have tuned the zombie of a coach out already?

Easy to blame everything on the coach but this mess is beyond any one, single guy. We are seeing a lot of individual suck from different guys.

Agree. But that's why I think it's the 'system'. They look like they are so frustrated that it's wearing them down. How many more times is Gaudreau going to try enter the zone 1 on 5? Every forward stopped dead outside the blue line. Defense forcing impossible passes on breakout. No hitting.

Panic? The building has already collapsed. It's time to call in the dogs, look for survivors and start to rebuild. Time to start setting up deals to accrue draft picks while looking at the young guys to see what we have.
