You don't have to agree with it but at least don't pretend you don't understand.
If you think that is the right route to go with arguably one of the best young D in the game. Flail away.
I am not presenting that is the way to go, no matter how you want to sugar coat and pretend it is the right option.

I never said it's the best way but I understand the line of thinking, did you read my post?

You're acting like it makes no sense when it does make sense even if you disagree with it.

Arguably the best young D in the game doesn't play bottom pair minutes.

After last season, how was he the second highest scoring D over the last 2 seasons of all D under 23?
How is he the leading scoring D on the Flames this season?

You want to trade that skill , youth and size?

Maybe we need to focus on the darlings....Gio and Brodie.

They have been much worse and are more experienced than Hamilton.

Don't get me wrong, not a fan of Gio nor Brodie either, but the thing is I wouldn't be too sad if Hamilton was traded, then again I wouldn't be sad to see anyone not named Gaudreau traded. Anyways, I'm just mad how bad this team / coaching staff is now, blow it up.

Shake up trade coming? Then new coaches if the trade doesn't. What else can they do?

Unless you're getting chychrun + for Hamilton, I'm not interested.

If this team wants to improve via trade, who exactly do you move?

I would gladly trade Hamilton for Matt Murray

Otherwise, I would not be happy if the Flames traded Hamilton. There's no reason to trade a good young defenseman. We'd be taking a step backwards.

I hope these rumours have no substance whatsoever.

Dougie is so soft and lost in the d zone most times. i dont see anything special here and for about 60 games last year i didnt either. if he is the guy who comes alive in "garbage time", like the home stretch last year, he isnt worth much. tired of these slow starts.

I wouldn't trade Hamilton, to young and to much potential. What i would do if i was the GM is keep listening to offers by teams that are playoff bound. After a couple of months of them baggering him for Hamilton , i would say " not interesting in trading Hamilton, but what about Gio with $750,000 retained?". I think some playoff bound teams like Pitt would listen.

i hear what you are saying but at what point does he become not too young and have too much potential. i agree, dont trade him for less than what you think he is worth but i think he is overrated, regardless of potential. and yes Gio going away wouldnt be the end of the world, his contract is already bad and it wont get better

There's enough smoke here (this past summer's Edmonton rumor and now this) to suggest that while maybe there isn't a fire, something is up.

I don't mind the idea of trading Hamilton if the return were better than what we paid.

Very unfortunate that I'm not confident enough in Treliving's judgement these days to trust him to garner a great return. So keep the great young DMan.

Hamilton came as advertised from Boston. Good offensive guy who isn't great in his own end and doesn't use his size enough. I think the problem is we didn't need another offensive defenseman when we acquired him. I think some people may have had too high expectations of him. I don't think he's been that bad since he came here. I'd trade Giordano before I trade Hamilton.

Keep Dougie and go find a young shut down defenseman.

All your post shows is that Hartley and GG suck.

Maybe if he got more minutes, we'd do better?

I'm afraid they might. I still remember when Darryl Sutter went crazy with trades.

I'm worried that Treliving might do stupid and desperate crap trying to save his coach and in extension himself. (Because the Gulutzan hire makes Treliving look terrible right now.)
