Default Flames to terminate Grossmann's contract

Elliotte Friedman @FriedgeHNIC
Grossmann (CAL) is on waivers to terminate contract. Must have an overseas offer.

Looks like he had no interest in playing in the AHL.

Cool. Game the system to maximize LTIR, then send him packing with a month's worth of paycheques in his pocket.

Would have been a brilliant plan, until they actually put him in some games.

Anyway, hope it means he has an offer elsewhere. Just because I don't want him here doesn't mean I want his career to go up in smoke. Good luck Grossman

best wishes and success long term. Didn't work out here, but hopefully it will somewhere else.

I thought having Grossmann in Stockton would be good for our young Swede defensemen, but that doesn't appear to be in the cards. I wish him the best and hope he finds a job in Europe.

Good. Still having him in the system is too tempting for a coach to request his call up.

I wonder if we will ever find out why he actually drew into the lineup. I mean everything about his time with the Flames made sense except for the fact that he got put on the ice. Multiple times at that.

I don't know how anyone could have thought he was a viable NHL option. His preseason was terrible, dude could barely skate

I'm really really hoping it has something to do with making all the transactions pass the sniff test

I have a hard time believing NHL coaches evaluated that guy and determined he was fit to draw in....multiple times

So glad the Flames wasted the last few pre-season games playing guys like Grossman, Higgins and Korpikoski......none of whom are on the team. Hope this is a lesson for next season for GG, to use the last game or two to get ready for the season, not the first few games of the regular season.

First few games? The team still looks like it's getting ready for the season...

I think the Flames wanted to sign Korpikoski but couldn't because of the Johnny situation allowing the Stars to swoop in

Perhaps, but there was no cohesion or chemistry anywhere heading into the season. I get the Johnny contract and Monahan injury, but just looked like GG was hoping he could play around with the lines, slap them together for Game 1 and off we go. Incredibly frustrating.

There was a lot of talk that he was really good in practice - really working hard and being a good leader.

So as a reward.

But that doesn't excuse/justify three games.

Anyway, whatever - fans over-react.

He's gone. After 3 games. It helped the cap.

Oh noes!!!
