If teams are legitimately calling on Hamilton, I hope Treliving is actively engaged in the discussions. Hamilton does show a lot of skill, but I'm not yet seeing signs of a foundational player.
Of course, teams were calling about Drew Shore and Wideman as well.

We can always offer Las Vegas something for passing on Kulak. I'd even give up a 2nd.

if they protect Kulak, they have to expose one of Giordano, Brodie and Hamilton. Not a realistic scenario.

If Kulak can continue to gain the trust of Gulutzen, then Treliving might have no choice but to explore trade options with the "Big 3." To me, it looks like it could be Hamilton as he was in Hartley's dog house at times last season and now it appears he could be in Gulutzen's too as he only played 15 minutes the other night.

At this stage they should leave Giordano unprotected. That contract is most likely going to be an anchor anyways.

Yeah or either protect 4 defencemen and I believe only 4 forwards instead of 7 forwards and 3 defencemen.

You don't leave guys with trade value on protected. That's just bad asset management; you trade them instead and Gio could fetch quite a bit on the trade market. He scored 21 goals last season, good for 2nd best among all defensemen league wide.

Kulak has really been phenomenal so far this season. I would really like to see how he looks playing with another catalyst in Dougie, rather than Engelland.
If he keeps playing like he's been so far, or improves further, it would be criminal to allow him to go to LV for free. I would personally be open to trading Gio in such a situation due to the special circumstances surrounding the expansion draft.

Yes that's fine also, as long as you don't have to eat a bad contract back, which is very likely with 20 teams at the cap.
