hmm so the nightly news is 50 minutes a day, times 5 days a week times 40 weeks times 3 networks?

that's 30000 minutes

I've had to provide emplyee background checks for government jobs on serveral occasions. It involves having that employee go to the police station with photo ID and filling out a form.

Trump picks anti-LGBT hate group to run domestic policy transition

http://americablog.com/2016/11/trump...ransition.html

Republican president-elect Donald Trump has picked a member of an officially-designated religious right “hate group” to run domestic policy for his presidential transition.

“I think homosexuality is a lifestyle, it’s a choice, and that lifestyle can be changed,” Blackwell said in response to the question “Is homosexuality a sin, and can gays be cured?” according to published transcripts. “I think it is a transgression against God’s law, God’s will.”

How FRC head Tony Perkins once reportedly paid the KKK $80,000.
The time FRC disseminated debunked Nazi-esque “science” about LGBT people.
The time FRC called for gays to be jailed.
The time FRC smeared Chelsea Manning.
The day FRC’s Tony Perkins got owned for lying about LGBT people.
The time FRC said gays would send Christians to ‘death camps.’
The time Chris Matthews destroyed FRC’s Tony Perkins.

The FRC is terrible, but calling them an "officially designated hate group", and actually relying on a designation from the SPLC, which has completely ruined its own credibility in recent years, will just cause people to ignore the important part of that choice.

I think it represents Trump essentially delegating these decisions to others, probably including Pence.

There are still ID requirements for that. If you don't have 2 pieces of acceptable ID that show your name and current address, then you still have to produce 2 pieces of documentation that at least have your name on it. Then you need to take an oath as well has have a registered voter from the same polling division (who has proof of ID) attest to your address. And that person can only attest for one person per election.

There are tons of options for ID, so it's not too onerous:

Our system is reasonable. I'm glad Harper's attempt to tighten them up under the guise of protecting against rampant (actually non-existent) voter fraud was dropped.

As a recent immigrant and green card holder, I'm feeling somewhat vulnerable. Here's an article which, when you read carefully, where Trump subtly and smoothly changes the topic from 'illegal immigrants' to 'immigrants' in general.

Watch closely in future news; I'm beginning to detect a tread where America, a nation of immigrants, is showing an intense dislike of any immigrant.

In my mind, you will continue to see these subtle shifts in the rhetoric to suit Trump.

Finally, take it from an immigrant; a Green Card is already EXTREMELY difficult to obtain. My wife has 3 degrees, including an MBA, I have 2 degrees including an MBA, we have no criminal records, both of us earn north of $100,000 and NONE of that is enough to garner consideration for a Green Card. We only got one because my wife's company transferred us here.

I wonder how many degrees and MBAs I would have had back home?

He met with Obama and now there's parts of it he likes, like no denying of coverage due to pre-existing conditions and coverage of young adults under parents' plan.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/amp/37953528

Maybe that's why Obama wanted to get Trump in as soon as possible, to maximize the amount of time he'll try and convince him to do the right things.

Yeah, I actually tend to be more forgiving than most when a politician can't live up to all their promises. There are some things that just end up not being feasible that you can't expect someone to understand until they have all the information. And during a campaign, the side you are campaigning against is never going to help you out by sharing that information. If a politician changes their mind after more information is available, I am not going to fault them for it. It's what anyone should do.

I would fault them for not being able to foresee that they didn't have all the necessary information, but not for eventually making the right decision (if any of that makes sense).

Lewandowski has resigned from CNN, and was seen arriving at Trump Tower today. No one is surprised.

Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi was named to the executive of Trump's transition team. The same Pam Bondi that Trump illegally contributed to before Florida decided not to do anything about Trump U complaints. Mmmm.. Swamp...

http://www.politico.com/states/flori...-effort-107298

EDIT: His kids are on the team too (which makes it hard for them to be impartial while running Trump's businesses to avoid conflicts of interest, like that was ever going to happen anyway), and of course Rebekah Mercer, daughter of Roger Mercer who funds Breitbart and spent tons funding Trump. Think the media will talk about pay to play for weeks on end like they did with Clinton during the campaign?

EDIT2: Chunks of his transition site are lifted from a nonpartisan nonprofit.
