Mike Pence is a prop who will have little to no influence in anything, he exists solely to satisfy the far right. Trump darn near thanked everyone but the janitor prior to Pence at his victory speech.

I think we should talk more about the 100 day plan because it's a much bigger immediate concern than the implosion of the Democratic Party.

I think he'll basically run legislative affairs out of the White House.

It's like when people say global warming is a hoax and say science is deceiving the public. They do that by first reducing "science" to a single entity, when in fact it is millions of individuals. To say science is rigged means a conspiracy among millions.

Same with the media, the media isn't a single entity, it's a vast number. Problems in media may be systemic, but to look most reporters in the eye and say they straight up threw away their journalistic integrity to rig their reporting for or against someone will probably result in a fight.

Cable news can go away though. Or make it the law that pundits are only allowed on 45 minutes a day.
I just don't think people know what fair is. They think that because their candidate or cause is called out, that in order to be "fair", they should spend time calling out the other side. Some times things are just the way they are and people who are wrong can't handle it so they play the "not fair" card.

Not everything gets equal coverage and consideration because not everything deserves that much legitimacy. There is no affirmative action for misinformation and they shouldn't have to provide misinformation to everyone just because the side that believes in that crap thinks it isn't fair.

And yeah, cable news networks like CNN and Fox should be for entertainment purposes anyway. I am so glad I cut the cord years ago.

Agree, I think I posted about that a while ago, there's a difference between fair and balanced and I think the media does have a problem with trying to appear balanced.

The media spends way too much time trying to maintain balance, to the point where they don't pay attention to whether an issue is balanced at all. Climate change is a great example. They provide equal time on an issue where there should be no equal time. 97% of climate scientists are in agreement on the issue. Presenting two people on the story, and not revealing the imbalance in the facts, presents a false equivalency. The media should be informing the audience on the issue better. Same goes when they are dealing with someone who is a compulsive liar. It is their job to hold the powerful accountable for the public, and that means calling these people out on their lies and embarrassing the #### out of them if needed. The mass media spends too much time currying favors and developing friendly relationships with the powerful to be of any use in the role of oversight.

They went ahead and actually printed some Clinton ones as the polls were leaning that way to get it out faster if she did win, so a bit of a gamble there as its a waste of money to print ones that won't be sold.

People of course were claiming (before last night) this was proof the media was in on the election being rigged. Similar thing happened when test graphics of election results were shown on some TV network that showed Clinton ahead in the election results. Just a test graphic but people went crazy on how the election is rigged.

All publications will have art done for both possibilities. Stories are much easier to have drafted or redrafted, but art takes time to put together. Not surprised to see this. The New Yorker admitted to being in the same boat as well.

Trump's plan is going to be impossible to make come to fruition. Achieving half of those points could take an entire eight years. That's if the Republicans in congress agree to cooperate with him.

Excuse me if this was already posted, but I'm 10 pages behind
One of the writers for the NY Daily News was tracking the overtly racist things that happened in the name of Trump today.

Whether Trump had won or not, the fact people were emboldened by his ascension is what bothers me, and seeing it happen just kills me on the inside.

I guess he got his twitter account back.

Donald J. Trump@realDonaldTrump
Just had a very open and successful presidential election. Now professional protesters, incited by the media, are protesting. Very unfair!

You just spent weeks inciting panic over a "rigged" election, and then for the second time in 16 years we have a President elect who lost the popular vote, and you don't expect people to be a little on edge, buddy?

Also did we all forget the Trump supporters who were threatening an armed insurgency if Clinton won?

He has a different definition of words than I do.

The media have only one job, and that is to make money. Not be balanced, not be fair, not even to be honest. They need to make money. Some might be willing to lose money to promote an agenda, which is likely to make something else money.

Some forms are not for profit, but someone is certainly paying the bills, and some will always have a point of view that it promotes, which again makes them the opposite of balanced or fair.

The myth of media actually being balanced or fair or honest I don't know ever existed.
