Team composition is not all about you, dude. Like it or not, Vey earned a recall on merit.
|
I'm not talking about throwing him a guy in and saying deal with it for the whole season. Give one of the teams draft picks a game or two. This team is in shambles and Vey won't be the answer.

I wonder how much longer Chiasson gets gifted undeserved icetime before he gets sent down. I think a few more weeks tops, then someone else gets called up.
Remember that 7 game hot streak he had in 2013......

And this is exactly why it's Vey, those kids in Stockton won't be getting big minutes if they were recalled. They would have been on the 4th line, not on the big line so this is why Vey was recalled.

I'm find with letting Klimchuk, Jankowski and Mangepane dominate in the AHL for a while longer. Would like to see one of the older two at some point this season, though.

The Flames are not going to interrupt a prospect's development to bring him up for a game or two - in a fourth line role - because memphusk demands appeasement.
Vey earned the recall on merit, he can play that fourth line role, and this allows the kids to continue to get big minutes in Stockton.
You can accept that, or you can continue to drown this thread with tedious whining. Your choice.

You could easily swap Chiasson for one of those guys and they'd get their minutes. He's not doing anything anyways

I guess you can call it whining. Seems strange. Either way, the only reason it's Vey is because of the Vancouver connection. That connection is going to be just like the Chiasson connection. Another guy doing nothing.

You can call it favoritism, or I am wondering if they want Vey because he is a C/RW vs the wingers mentioned prior (If he is indeed to replace Bouma who is a LW/C). The only other C I can think of that may fit the bill is Janko, but he can benefit greatly from just getting used to the AHL. No need to let him join the rocky roads of a season just yet.

To the couple of posters that seem mad that it was Vey called up, as stated many times Vey is playing well right now. I would also add that there is a chance that Vey won't see game action. I think Hamilton is getting first crack to fill in on the 4th line. Also Bouma's injury might not have been as bad as first thought. He could be in sooner than later. No point calling in a youngster to have them sitting in pressbox.

I would guess they are looking for a depth player who can play a checking physical game and potentially work on the PK.
They are replacing Bouma.
i.e. 4th line winger

can anyone clarify the point of the Wotherspoon recall (and then reassigning back to the AHL)?

The Wotherspoon recall and reassignment appears to be a mistake.
Both entries have been removed from the AHL transactions page

Vey is not supposed to be the answer, nor has anyone said that. Seems like you just want to be complain, so have at it.

Looks like it. Vey and Wotherspoon are right next each other alphabetically on the roster, probably accidentally moved Wotherspoon by mistake re-added him to correct it.
Now just updated the log.

I really don't understand everyones hate for Chiasson... He's been just fine this season. I guess he's an easier scapegoat then Johnny and Monny. That or you guys are crap at evaluating talent.

Fine, he's consistent....at having plays die on his stick.
How's that for evaluating talent?
Then again I suppose I could see the argument that plays die on Johnny and Mony's sticks too lately...(sigh)
I just don't see him as nowhere near 1st line winger material. If we can't find a better option that's pretty frikin sad IMO.

He's not a 50 goal scorer, therefore useless.

I think you are confusing him with Monahan on the ice.
Chiasson has been a much better forechecker than Monahan and has made nicer passes in the offensive zone too.
