I remember Trump mentioning Carl Ichahn as a guy he would use to negotiate great deals for him to help make America great again. Kind of funny that Hertz took a 27% dive today on Ichahn's f'ed up auto depreciation formulas.

It's an interesting ethical question too: to what degree should you fight for the well-being of the group you identify with at the obvious expense of other groups? And what groups are you (and are you not) allowed to draw lines between?

That's the thing, they're all part of the SAME group...Americans.

People are superficial. It's because the majority of society have an average IQ, which isnt enough for society to progress quickly. We're very much the same people who had slaves, or supported Hitler or embarked on Crusades. Evolution is not fast and our brains are no more larger or have more neurons.
If you don't believe me, just read about the human behavior in any 3rd world country.

I agree. I think Don Jr. put it best, it's outsider vs insider. People want change.
Change isn't always for the best, but some people are too stupid to realize that's.

Yes. Michigan liked Bernie. Obama went hammer time in the Detroit area, but Clinton is only up by a couple of points. Overall in the state Trump is up by almost 5 full points right now.

Let me riddle you this - how the hell are college educated white women in Virginia breaking even between the two? How is that possible?

I will say this, the last voter in Allegheny County, where Pittsburgh is located, did not vote until about 9:20 PM. Cities have longer lines that rarely are finished when the polls "officially" close, hence Virginia going Democrat after looking red all night.
I'm desperately hoping this is the case.

And yet she assumes that Trump has any grasp of what middle class Americans are facing? This is the argument that drives me the most up a wall. This is a man who was born into wealth, he has never struggled for anything in his entire life. He has absolutely zero grasp of what life is like for 99% of Americans. That people hold that against Clinton (who did not grow up with the kind of privilege Trump had, who only gained it later in life) and don't see it as an issue with Trump...I don't grasp the logical somersaults they're doing to reach that conclusion.

Really? Then why? Are you going to preach this "change" narrative? If "change" was the driver, then you vote out every single person sitting in congress and at the state level. This is not about change. There is something else driving it, and it is the most base emotions in the people voting.

Sorry, I thought maybe you were serious. You have to remember, I've been talking to Trump supporters a lot these days and they actually believe this to be true.

To re-inject some hopefulness into this thread, let's remember this is a hockey forum, and you're not in trouble until you lose a game at home. Hillary hasn't lost any of her firewall states yet.
So, Clinton in 7.

WA/OR/HI will be blue, ID red. Hillz needs to hold onto NV especially with MI at risk.

Do racism, sexism and xenophobia contribute to Trumps popularity? Absolutely.
Are those attributes enough to get the millions of votes needed to get him into the presidency? I don't think so.
Trump is essentially a giant middle finger pointed directly at the US establishment. The American people are sick and tired of the status-quo and Trump is the result.
