We need to stop saying the Flames aren't playing that bad. They have been playing awfully. Every single game they get blown out lately. CalgaryPuck constantly defends the team by saying "we are improving the game" in scenarios when we are behind by two goals or so. How is this okay hockey. Other teams are just playing more passively when this happens and as a result our hockey looks cleaner. Are the Flames playing better? No.
They need a serious change in the lineup because what we have going for the team right now just is not good enough.
In theory, if we were improving and having closer games we would have more OTL's on the season and the team would still be getting crucial points in losses. But this isn't happening because the "close" games are still blowouts.
Being a flames fan is like being gutted. Year after year. Changes made in the off season provide optimism. Season starts and it's like getting bashed in the head with a barbed wire wrapped baseball bat.
This certainly won't be the worst loss at the Duck Pond, but for heaven's sake, it is getting close to mathematically impossible for this crap to continue.
