Just able to finally tune in at the very end of the second.
Only 3-1!?
We still have a chance!

How have they looked tonight? Too lazy to read through 20+ pages.

A loss tonight and their record is almost identical to last year at this same time. So...getting there. I have more faith in this year's team to turn it around than last year. Goaltending is better. Character vets like Brouwer. The room should hopefully be less fragile.

they've looked better than anaheim most of the game 5 on 5 but were undone by some questionable calls/bad pks/bad pps. same story all season.

Gaudreau is a great player... Even at his worst theres an offensive spark. That said he's looked terrible to me this year by his standards. His holdout has hurt the whole team and was ridiculous when he was always gonna sign anyway.

But the thing that bugs me the most watching this team is how effing soft they are. Skill players getting run constantly and no one pushing back except tkachuk an 18 yr old. Embarassing. I preferred watching the terrible young guns teams that at least didn't get bullied.

Midway? We are barely under the cap, we should be on the road to making playoffs.

Flames plays okay. Tkachuk is great, D Hamilton took a stupid penalty and Ducks scored.

Because Wideman, Bouma, Stajan, Smid and Engelland make a combined 17 million.

...since when did salary cap position dictate how close you are to contending? What a stupid notion.

It seems one of our star defenceman is always off. Tonight it's Hamilton, would be nice to get them all going at the same time. And Jokipakka has looked pretty average tonight as well.

Kulak with the late penalty. Well, that'll cost ya Brett. I'm sure any ####ing minor thing will draw Grossman back into the lineup at your expense!

It's hard to be patient when you pay big dollars to Mony and Johnny and they don't produce. Our best can and should be a lot better than they are playing now.

Yeah he's fading away into the corner. Johnny is a fantastic skater, all he had to do was stick with Cogliano but instead of stopping hard and staying with his man he is a little weak on it and Cogliano scores.

Again I'm not sure what this issue is? Yeah he skated back hard after the giveaway for sure, but he only backchecked for 90% of the play and it cost him.

Wtf sportsnet? It's an intermission during a Flames vs Ducks game, and we're spending it talking about the Oilers?

Ducks, Sharks, Kings probably finish 1-2-3 in our division. Its a road game. And the flames are keeping it close 5-on-5 on a back-to-back. Out side of the Duck's first line, the flames are outplaying the ducks.

Not sure what some of you were expecting tonight. But this is a pretty solid effort by the flames.

In my opinion (since it's 90% arguing about what's wrong with the team in the last few pages):
- Team looks like it's working hard. Getting chances from the bottom 6 from their grinding and forcing Anaheim into some questionable moves.
- Shot selection is still not great and their chances are pretty low tier typically. Team looks like it's looking for a tip or a rebound but not being in the right spot to capitalize on either due to being used to Hartley high speed offence.
- Controlling zone time (though this could be bias from me)...just, again, not getting the high tier chances out of it
- Monahan line looks better. Gaudreau is starting to resemble Gaudreau of years past though not entirely there yet. Got punished for a bad pass (lead to 3-1)
- PK and PP still bad
- Typical kryptonite players (Cogliano, Kesler) beating the Flames.

Overall not a great game but that's multitudes better than the way they've played in Anaheim the last few years. No real standouts on the Flames though the lack of overall suck from the top line is making the team look more competent than the last couple games.
