Sounds like Therrien

I hate Therrien more than most, but what are you going to do instead? Put a cold Price (just back from a year off) in an 8-0 game?
####ty for Montoya, but you absolutely take care of Carey.

Montoyas job was to give Price the night off. He probably didnt realize the rest of the team was taking it off too.

First of all, Montoya is a quality goaltender. I've watched enough of him over the years to know that he'll always give you a decent shot at a win almost every night. Once in a while he'll look a little off, but that was not tonight.

This game should underscore the parity in the league. It doesn't matter how good or bad you've been before a certain game, any team can beat any team, and if you don't show up to play, you might get beaten badly.

That's what happened tonight. The Habs as a group just didn't look ready to play a game of hockey tonight. Call it overconfidence or complacency, it just wasn't an NHL level of effort. They all owe Montoya a sincere apology for that effort. That wasn't good enough for the ECHL. That wasn't good enough for the Irish league that Fleury played in a few years ago.

The Jackets were hungry for a win because they haven't played that well so far, and they embarrassed a team full of quality NHLers. That's just because of the difference in effort, not because they're suddenly a great team.

This will be a test for the leadership group in Montreal. I've never been convinced that they had the right guys in those roles last year when they folded the season without Price in net. We shall see if we have a repeat of last year, or if they can learn from this embarrassment. Their hot start might be for naught if they don't figure out how to remain competitive every night.

One game. Brush it off and move on. Not a test anymore than them winning every game to start the year was a test.

Just an awful post, especially considering Demers just had a stroke.

Classy post, but no surprise it was made by a Canadiens fan, second worst classless fanbase in the league.

My wife is a huge Habs fan (I live in NB, tons of Habs fans here.), she caught the score on her phone when it was 7 - 0 in the 2nd for the BJs. Her words, %$#@%! Do they have a goalie in net tonight?! I couldn't help but . Sometimes a good piece of humble pie does the over-inflated egos of some local Habs fans some good.

The Ducks are flying away with this game, 3-0 after one period and the shots were 21-4 in favour of the Ducks. Domingue was pulled and Justin Peters took over at the start of the second period. It is now 4-1 after forty minutes. The Coyotes played better as they had the edge in shots, 13-6. Perry, Rakell, and Vermette each have two points.

This makes absolutely 0 sense. You are going to put the best goalie in the world, coming off injury plagued season, into a 8-0 game for the 3rd period because you don't want to humiliate your backup??

No you don't, you discuss the situation with your backup between periods and communicate with him your intentions are not to embarrass him, which Therrien explained he did after the game.

This is like saying you put Kipper into a 8-0 game in the 3rd to protect McBackups pride on the front end of a back to back situation

I did however enjoy the fact the Habs lost 10-0 by the way.

^ for 20 minutes, yeah, I do think you make that change ... back to back or not. You see goalies who play full games back to back all the time (e.g. Neuvirth played yesterday and the day before despite the first game going to OT), I don't think you ruin Price if you pull Montoya after 40. So agree to disagree ... all about optics, IMO you simply don't do this to one of your goalies. I certainly wouldn't want Gulutzan to do that to Chad Johnson.
