It makes sense to keep him in and let Price rest for tomorrow. It is almost impossible for Montreal to come back from such a huge deficit so you might as well just let the game play out and hope for better results on Saturday night.

even if you want Price fresh for the game tomorrow - why would you humiliate your backup like that? Should have pulled the poor guy at some point, at the very least don't send him out for the 3rd period. Unbelievable coaching.

Impressive display. They were horse against the Canucks, too. I hope Therrien has a stroke on the bench.

I might be wrong, but I believe this is the first double digit game in the NHL since this one:
http://www.nhl.com/scores/htmlreport...2/ES030144.HTM
two current Flames played in that one.

Would be hilarious if they apologize to the crowd and say they are out of gun powder and cannot fire the cannon after firing it 10 times already.
And then fire it and say just kidding!

In terms of the literal words "Most Valuable Player", Carey Price might be the all-time MVP in any sport. He is the difference between Cup contender and #1 pick contender. And to think Montreal fans were mad when they traded Halak and kept Price.

I agree and Montoya was playing during Price's injury.

With all the doom and gloom around here I'm just glad this sort of thing doesn't happen with the flames. We lost to Boston pretty badly a few years ago, that was the last time I remember this happening to the flames.

A couple of things to say about that Montreal/Columbus game.
First of all, Montoya is a quality goaltender. I've watched enough of him over the years to know that he'll always give you a decent shot at a win almost every night. Once in a while he'll look a little off, but that was not tonight.
This game should underscore the parity in the league. It doesn't matter how good or bad you've been before a certain game, any team can beat any team, and if you don't show up to play, you might get beaten badly.
That's what happened tonight. The Habs as a group just didn't look ready to play a game of hockey tonight. Call it overconfidence or complacency, it just wasn't an NHL level of effort. They all owe Montoya a sincere apology for that effort. That wasn't good enough for the ECHL. That wasn't good enough for the Irish league that Fleury played in a few years ago.
The Jackets were hungry for a win because they haven't played that well so far, and they embarrassed a team full of quality NHLers. That's just because of the difference in effort, not because they're suddenly a great team.
This will be a test for the leadership group in Montreal. I've never been convinced that they had the right guys in those roles last year when they folded the season without Price in net. We shall see if we have a repeat of last year, or if they can learn from this embarrassment. Their hot start might be for naught if they don't figure out how to remain competitive every night.
