Ice Times in Calgary
Does anyone know of any rinks in Calgary that don't give all their ice to minor hockey/beer leagues? Or that usually has a few slots open at night? My team is looking to book an ice time for a "practice" but I'd imagine most of the ice at night is gone. We're looking at mid day too but that would exclude some guys who can't get time off work. Thanks all!

What time is "at night"? I know that our association rinks generally have openings starting at 9 or 9:30. Anything earlier than that is pretty tough to get.

You could try at Flames Community Arenas.

Fairview has daytime ice available and a really easy website to see whats available.
And if my mens team said we were going to 'practice' and it wasnt code for 'go to the pub' I'd be looking for a new team.

"Practice" as in shinny for an hour because we have two weeks between games. We're not THAT serious about it.

City of Calgary offers adult shinny, on a first come first serve basis ( I find you generally need to be there about 30 mins before) its also just shy of 10$

Pick the day you want to play and see when ice is available

Yeah, but that's drop in shinny. That's not what he wants, he wants ice that can be used just by him and his buddies. That's understandable. I think you can find it, but as noted it'll be pretty late.
The actual flexible options in Calgary for doing anything besides skating around in a circle or playing drop in shinny completely suck, honestly. As far as I know the only stick and puck times in the entire city are at Trico centre.

I've used Erin Woods to book shinny a few times, the schedule and availability is on the website: http://eastcalgary.ca/
Available times do look later.

have a look at great plains arena - the enw one off of 52nd near glenmore.
my guess is that you will have a ahrd time finding something between 6 and 10 pm.
Does the city have a central website at all.
You will have to try calling some of the "private" rinks such as east Calgary, Fairview, south fish creek etc

If you don't mind paying a bit more you can usually get into the corral on short notice. Prime is after four and I think it was $320 and non-prime is around $180. Instead of paying we usually park in Lot A by the Flames ticket office.

You'll probably pay through the nose there, the ice rates are very high from what I hear. Use the City website listed earlier, or check the individual arena websites if they are community run. (Crowchild Twin, ECTAS, Flames Community etc.). I think it has gotten marginally better recently but it will be tough to find prime time ice. Later evening (after 10pm) has really gotten better due to some of the beer leagues shrinking (hearsay) and over the day you can almost have your pick of times.

I'm playing anywhere from 7-10:40 pm.

Depends where you want to play and when. Winsport has some ice open with 4 rinks.
