I believe in the Pony Power

Let's not over-react.
This is the sequence of events
1. There was a thread started about the coach and his assistants
2. During a win, a thread was posted, sarcastically suggesting GG should win the Adams. This was locked.
3. Another thread, basically the same was posted, it was also locked.
I think you can understand when we see two identical threads started within a day of each other, why we would lock it.
There is no promotion of negative narrative. If anything I've been accused of "blindly" supporting GG.
So let's just turn this into a general thread about the coach and be done with it. Thread title updated.

After 1 regulation win in his first 8 games? If I had to pick one of those extremes, I would say getting replaced is more likely (however unlikely) than winning the Jack Adams.
Both statements are dumb at this point though and even most of the people critical of the Gulutzan hire know that he isn't likely to be replaced without at least a full season to sort things out. I think after this season, we might see some assistants changed though. Not all of them are Gultzan's choice at the moment.

He's both the worst and best coach ever. There will never be any common ground on him.

I think the thread title is clever and appropriate. Captures the current mood of the alarmists within the fan base.

We have been talking about the effects of GG's on-ice systems (short passes, 5-man unit, etc). And I'm sure we'll start to recognize more of his on-ice systems as the team actually starts playing to reflect the coaching wishes.
But what about his decisions with line composition? Not just the game-day rosters (much debated) but the intentional parity among the lines?
Splitting Gio, Brodie, and Hamilton is clearly an intentional move to ensure that a top-3 D is always on the ice at all times. Tough to tell how it's working out so far. I know as a D myself, playing with a weak partner makes me less effective and less likely to jump into offensive plays. But we all remember the Smid - Engelland fire drill shifts in years past.
The forwards are even more interesting though. The stable 'pairs' (Gaudreau+Monahan, Bennett+Brower, Backlund+Frolik) essentially represent the top forwards. But by distributing the skilled forwards, the lesser skilled forwards are also distributed. As competent as Chiasson and Versteeg have been so far, they aren't clear cut top-6 material, and certainly weren't highly valued by the rest of the league (a last-minute Free Agent and traded for Seiloff, respectively).
With Gaudreau and Monahan not at the top of their game, I feel like Hartley (and many other coaches) would immediately put someone like Brouwer with them for a jump-start, and simply deal with the effects on the lineup, putting Bennett with the second best option, and so-on.
I'm excited to see how this will pan out. He has very deliberately distributed talent throughout the lineup. I have already noticed the lack of high's and low's as a fan. I am no longer suddenly on the edge of my seat once every few shifts (like in 2014-15 Gaudreau+Monahan+Hudler) but I am also no longer terrified of a particular line (like with Smid+Engelland+4th line). I'm certain that the players, and particularly the goalies, share that feeling of stability. I also believe that the opponents have taken note. I don't think it's a surprise that the 3rd and 4th lines have stood out this season. They are solid NHL lines with some skill, while meanwhile the 'top 2' lines are getting the tough matchups.

I decided I would give Gully 9 games to get it sorted. If he can get them to .500 tonight then I still have hope for the season and him as head coach.

I'm down with firing him. I'm mostly joking, but he better figure out that his D pairing strategy is straight up stupid. Like really dumb.
Let's go with the same strategy with the forwards: Gaudreau with Stajan. Backlund with Bouma. Bennett and Chiasson

If the Flames win it is not because of Gulutzan it is because they capitalized on chances had solid D and goaltending. Gulutzan is not an impressive NHL coach period. He is not even average.

Here we go again, Flames lose and we blame coaching. Our top players need to perform.

It's hard to when there's a goddamn anchor tied to every good D man we have.
"Hey Gio, pinch!"
"Can't, have to give Dennis a push so he can get to the bench before time expires"
"Hey Brodie, skate the puck up and join the rush"
"Ok, but I'm heading back to my net the minute I give the puck up because Engelland can't handle a puck"
Like seriously. Mony needs to buck up, sure. But scoring isn't this team's problem

This is the super painful transition period between the short haircut and long hair.
No team in the league is going to do Calgary in favours with their contract situation, just have to ride it out and hope some prospects actually pan out next year
Tkachuk will be a player for sure though, I think that top line is set for years to come.

You think Engelland is the problem on that line? Dude is a + player and leads the team in that department on a team who has given up a #### load of goals.
I know he sometimes makes a few turnovers but he's usually always in the right defensive position. Gio, Brodie, and Hamilton are the reason we started off like hot garbage not the bottom d-men.

All true. But that has nothing to do with Gulutzen meeting to be smarter than every coach who has coached. The strategy of having a top 2, middle 2 and bottom pair came out of experience and logic. Give your best defensemen the most ice time. Why he thinks he's reinvented the wheel is behind me. Especially when the results are apparent. They've played 1 good game in 10.

Gulutzan's pairings are a nightmare. Giordano-Wideman might be a decent pair if it were necessary - but it is not. Dougie Hamilton is a better NHL defenseman than Dennis Wideman. Brett Kulak is the perfect partner for Dennis Wideman. Deryk Engelland has never, is not, and will never be a top four defenseman.

No. Engelland cannot pass or skate. Please don't refer to plus minus as though it tells you something about his play.

Well he must be doing something right to be on the ice for more goals than against and to lead the team in being on the ice for more goals than against so yes it does tell me something.
It's not like he's playing on a stacked team that scores a lot of goals and gives up few goals. I might agree with you in that situation it wouldn't mean as much but when you've given up as many goals as the Flames have and are getting top 4 minutes and you're on the ice for more goals than against then yes I'd say he's doing a great job. If he couldn't skate he'd be exposed so far which he hasn't been.

That is what he is doing right. Getting saves.
Also you do realize his +/- is immensely skewed by the three games where Kulak was playing and dominating against bottom pair competition, right? Outside of that, he's been a drag on Brodie shift after shift in an actual difficult role. We've got Dennis friggin Wideman playing a shutdown role for us so Brodie can babysit Engelland.
