Now we're overreacting about overreactions about overreacting.
Oh no, this is an overreaction too!

I don't understand, why are negative based threads like management needs to fire all of our newly appointed coaches allowed to continue while threads discussing the possibility of Gulutzan winning the Jack Adams get locked?

I think you may be underestimating this faction though. Based on the reaction of the first few weeks, I have no doubt they will be back in force when the Flames lose a game or two. Or even better, they'll proclaim the Flames are winning because of their great players, but in spite of GG. Anything to make it work within their narrative.

Because despite the thread title difference, they are essentially the same subject and you don't need 2 threads on the front page about the same thing. And that is aside from the fact the thread was designed to troll people.

Expect more ups and down. They say most teams around the league play the same style with little variation. I don´t think Gulutzen found THE SECRET and invented an unbeatable new system, nor do I think they just clicked necessarily. Better goaltending and special teams, fewer stupid mistakes and better play from our stars are probably the reason we had these 2 good games. Expect more ups and downs.

I agree with this. I think the success of the coach depends more on other aspects of their job and not the X's and O's. Every team might have a default strategy, but every team draws from the same tool box and will be flexible depending on the situation. No coach is exactly reinventing the wheel.
What it comes down to is player/bench management, talent evaluation, motivation, practices, decision making on the fly, respect and accountability. I honestly don't believe a team wins or loses based on "the system", but more on the points listed. If a coach can't do these things, no system will work because the players won't trust in it and therefore will not execute it.
The last 2 games are certainly encouraging and a lot of the buying in will depend on the early results. Success and failure is pretty much a feedback loop.

Obviously we're not going undefeated for the rest of the season. But the team is playing like a team now which is hard to dispute. Even if the results weren't there the last two games, the execution was and that's really the only thing to worry about.
The Flames are a cap team with a good roster and now playing what looks to be a much more reliable system than anything they've been working with a decade prior.
Hell, even the games prior showed that the system gives us better possession numbers than anything Hartley's hail mary system managed to provide.

Hopefully the coaching staff and Gulutzan are on the right track now. They have shown improvements over the last 2 games but jmo I think they had to feel the match to the gasoline to motivate progression. I don't believe these last two games are the result of a natural progression.
Give it another 10 games to fairly re-evaluate .

I don't understand why this thread isn't locked.
The one about the Jack Adams was locked (which is just as ridiculous).
How is this one allowed to continue with the current thread title? At least change it to "coaching discussion".
The "Fire the coach" we just hired after two weeks title just gives credence to the group of ten or so people on here who are too panicked to be participating on the interwebs.

Ya, I think it just needs to lose the word "Fire". The rest of the discussion is very interesting and engaging as long as we avoid the extreme opinions based on barely a handful of games.

Didn't people want Dickinson fired after week one loss to BC? 15-0-1 since then.

So - what you're saying is - that the only reason the coaching staff/system is improving is because they lost a bunch of games, and were then shocked that they started to feel the heat?!?
That's not even reasonable!?!
Change takes time to straighten out... simple as that. We made big changes, and are improving over time.
Not that we will never have another bad game or anything - progress just takes time.

I'll agree there shouldn't be two threads regarding the exact same topic but I honestly didn't see the Jack Adams one before posting and wholeheartedly I created my post with only true intentions. Is it as far fetch to recommend that GG is now in line to win the Jack Adams then it is to suggest that the organization should fire their entire newly signed coaching staff five games into the season?
For some time now I feel there has been a double standard in CP to allow and promote the negative narrative, I for one really hope it changes soon.
