I only was able to watch the first two periods and its interesting to see the comments on Elliott stealing the game. For the first two periods it was Crawford who kept the Hawks in. Granted I didn't see the third but both goal tenders did their job tonight. I was also pleasantly surprised to not see any major Wideman screw-ups tonight.

I guarantee GG spoke with Dougie about his physicality. He was a completely different player and one who the Flames desperately need. Bouwmeester is long gone.

He played solid while the Flames pushed early, but the Hawks had some great chances late that Elliott thwarted, including a phenomenal save in the dying seconds.
Honestly, that save alone is why we need him. Chad Johnson could have backstopped this game, but probably wouldn't have made that save.

That game was good for my mental health. I didn't think anyone had a bad game tonight. Awesome win!

Total hits in the game were 35-11 for the Flames, I think they need to continue the physical play to be successful.

Dougie being physical was awesome. Pretty sure no one was expecting that. He looks pretty devastating when he's laying the body on guys.

Major props to Ferland tonight as well... Throwing his body around in smart situations, in the mix on goal 1, rings one off the post on a wicked shot and his skating looked very good

Cool moment after the game as former teammates in Leth & Chi Versteeg & Seabrook embrace in the hallway. Grew up together & won together.

Versteeg's goal was borderline, in my opinion the puck did go backwards and I would be annoyed if that goal counted against us. But it happened in one continuous deke so I guess it was fluid enough to count. Regardless, always nice to see players score against their old teams.

Watching that gif. Ant what point does it go backwards

I thought Wideman played a good game. He was steady in his own end, made the quick easy play and was shooting the puck all night. We desperately need a bomb from the point and he was putting them towards the net all night.
When Wideman is on, him and Gaudreau have really good chemistry together. Wideman could of had a couple tonight.

I'm wrong. I think his black blade going backwards is what tricked me

The coach's system was working. Not many odd man rushes.

I thought so at the time too...I think it had more to do with my shock that the Flames won and my mind was trying to figure out how they were gonna get screwed out of it

Good game from Dougie. Hope he can keep upping his physical game as it really adds a valuable dimension to his play.

They did a good job of preventing the Hawks from gaining any speed in the neutral zone.
