Agreed we are no where near the depths of the young guns era - anyone who suggests otherwise can't possibly have followed this team then.

As for Giordano's leadership being questioned - are you kidding me? When the game was slipping away even just last night - he gets double shifted on the blue line and scores a clutch goal to bring us within one. No way is his leadership in question here.

And as I've stated before - good organizations do not ship out their captain after a rough start like this.

Worst relative to expectations, perhaps?

Yeah, in terms of realistic expectations this is worse than the Young Guns. Those teams were just patently mediocre, with maybe two or three talented players instead of the half dozen to 8 we have now.

We should be better, which makes the results worse.

I think Monahan may still be hurt. I'd like to see him split up from Johnny for a while. Gaudreau looks like he's trying to do too much out there. It's possible he knows Monahan is hurt so maybe he thinks he has to do it all himself?

Pure speculation on my part but I think it's a reasonable explanation.

I have thought of this as well but if this was the case you would think by this point just give him some time off to heal up. He's obviously not tipping the scales and helping to win..... if anything he's hurting the team being out there.

If something doesn't happen by tomorrow I'll lose faith in management. This is a tire fire. We are the worst team in the league.

Could have fooled me. I thought you lost faith 2 days after Brad was hired.

Funny you would say that. That is exactly what the Flames did in 1981. Captain Brad Marsh to the Flyers for Mel Bridgman.

This season has me longing for the old WHA.... That was a lot more fun to watch (not to mention my Jets regularly kicked everyone's butts )

What do you think could possibly happen in the next two days?

I took last night off except for happening to catch the last couple minutes and promptly walked away shaking my head. We should not have to be chasing every gd game hanging our hopes on late game heroics like two seasons ago. That's not the way to have regular success. Neither is allowing 4-6 goals a game.

I'm glad I didn't watch enough to allow myself to get upset. I recommend others do the same until something changes or the team visibly turns a corner with results to back it up. May be a week or two yet before we see cohesive team efforts. Sadly, the slow start may kill our hopes for the season before they get it going.

2 straight seasons likely to be stymied by unorganized and clunky starts. Not going to lie when I say I'm tired of seeing this team having to play catch up. Both in games and in the standings. It makes things exciting when it works out. But too much is just too much.

Let's do ourselves a favor and lower the expectations in here cause it's not getting better right away, and Brad isn't impulsive enough to fire anybody behind the bench. He's going to see his "process" through likely, for better or worse.

There's still a lot of hockey left. They've been on worse losing streaks.
They can't possibly maintain this level for much longer. There's enough skill on this team.
Love the posters that think the team doesn't care.

The team cares and they're trying, but make no mistake: a start like this can bury a team unless they turn it around very quick

Every year they started crappy but ultimately made the playoffs, they had multiple winning streaks of > 5 games. I'm sorry but I see nothing in their play that remotely gives me faith they can go on such a run. Losing to bottom feeders like Edmonton x 2, Vancouver and Carolina, and barely beating Buffalo is evidence as such.

Its time to start thinking that narrative no longer applies.

That team is playing very well.

I still hate them with every fibre of my being, but make no mistake they are not the team of the last several years.
